Lia Elena

DH and I are set on naming our baby girl Lia (don't like Leah or anything else and Lia isn't up for debate).

For middle name we are thinking Elena but is Lia Elena too samey. We don't have family names to use so it's just picking another name we like.

Also thinking

  • Hanna
  • Grace
  • Sasha

What do you think goes best?

I don't like Lia Elena as combo
I think you need something shorter without -a sound at the end. Grace fits, but Grace is overdone middle.

Lia Hallie
Lia Harlow
Lia Sophie
Lia Odile
Lia Odette
Lia Olwen
Lia Gwen
Lia Fern
Lia Juliet
Lia Molly
Lia Winter

Too many Ls
Sounds a bit lalalala

I prefer a bit of strength in a name, Julia, Lia for short
Elena Julia flows better. The vowels run into each other in Lia Elena.
Lia Grace flows well.

Lia Hannah doesn't as there's a run of flows in the middle and both names have 2 syllables and end in 'a"

What about Lia Sasha?

Lia Grace. Definately

Peppermint81 · 20/03/2024 19:08

It flows nice, others sound harsher

Moreteaandchocolate · 20/03/2024 19:09

I love the name Lia!

I like Lia Elena best from your middle name options - I like the flow of the repeated L sounds, personally.

Other ideas -

Lia Matilda (love this!)
Lia Victoria
Lia Nicole
Lia Penelope
Lia Sophie
Lia Madeleine
Lia Florence
Lia Alice
Lia Charlotte

SoundTheSirens · 20/03/2024 19:13

Lia Elena doesn’t really flow, too many vowels and Ls.

Of your choices, Lia Grace works best (but Grace is a bit done to death as a middle name, if that bothers you).

Lia Jane
Lia Darcy
Lia Suzanne
Lia Saffron
Lia Josephine
Lia Merryn
Lia Catherine
Lia Frances
Lia Celeste
Lia Seren
Lia Topaz
Lia Marie

(Giving a mix of types of names there, depending on your preferences.)

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/03/2024 19:38

Lia Elena is fine and better than any of the suggestions.
Check that the initials don't make a word or have dodgy associations.

DontGiveADuck · 20/03/2024 20:11

Grace fits the best but along with Rose and May it’s the most over done, over used middle name there is currently. Done to death.

GoodnightJude1 · 20/03/2024 20:14

I have a Lia :) great choice OP!

I think Lia Grace sounds lovely.

ALunchbox · 20/03/2024 20:36

I think the middle name should start with a consonant. I'd also avoid an L alliteration.

bridgetreilly · 20/03/2024 21:11

I would avoid another -a name.

Lia Chloe
Lia Faith
Lia Harriet
Lia Beth
Lia Niamh

Marcipex · 20/03/2024 21:24

It’s a bit wishy-washy.

Sasha is a gorgeous name but I don’t think it goes well. I think it’s the -a ending.

Lia Grace
Lia Katherine
Lia Molly

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 20/03/2024 21:28

Lia Grace is nice. My stepmum is Cypriot and Lia is the shortened version of Evangelia or something like that.

I agree with no other a ending names, maybe add a third name with an a.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/03/2024 22:10

Lia Elena is lovely - the repeated letters make the name sound very lyrical and elegant to me.

Grace is dull as dishwater as a middle name, Hanna will be misspelt and is not that exciting either, and Sasha is a unisex nn to me.

Of the 3 I like Elena the most by far, although what really matters is how Lia sounds with your surname , Lia Elena won’t be said that often, unless you are planning on calling her by both names?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/03/2024 22:17

Although I’m assuming you’re pronouncing it “Lee -ah , Eh- lay - nah” , the traditional way? Very pretty.

TheOriginalEmu · 20/03/2024 22:25

I like it’s lovely. It’s quite sing song which I like personally.
similar vibe Lia Gabriella, Lia Alana, Lia Clarissa
The reason Grace/Rose/May are common middle names is they flow well with most names, Lia Grace is lovely, if you want something less common but similar Lia Gray, Lia Maeve, Lia Fay/e.

Shityshitybangbang · 20/03/2024 22:28

Lia Rose is pretty

Marcipex · 20/03/2024 22:50

Lia Gabriella is gorgeous.

PickledScrump · 20/03/2024 22:59

It depends how you are saying Elena

lia El-eh-na doesn’t work it just blurs into one

but

Lia E-lay-na is ok as it lengthens it,

you rarely use middle names though so it’s not that important

ThePoshUns · 20/03/2024 23:00

Helena would work better than Elena

StrawberryTwister · 20/03/2024 23:24

Don't like them together personally a bit too much

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 20/03/2024 23:28

Thomas.

daisydalrymple · 20/03/2024 23:49

I love Lia Elena! It’s so pretty! Never heard of a Lia before, but it’s lovely
(I’m saying it rhymes like Mia, rather than the longer Leah?) (and Elena as El-ay-na?)

GinBlossom94 · 20/03/2024 23:59

Choose what you like, how often is their full name actually used anyway? I only full name my DCs to annoy them
