Sadie or Nina?

Or other names similar. We like classic but not too popular. Surname is very basic- think “Smith”

I absolutely adore both those names but if I had to choose I'd go with Sadie

Nina.

Sadie reminds me of the R Kelly song (a friend actually called their daughter Sadie after the song) and no-one wants to be associated with him these days.

NWnature · 01/02/2024 19:31

Eek didn’t know there was a R Kelly song, I was thinking Sexy Sadie by the Beatles!

Sadie but I like both.

FloofCloud · 01/02/2024 19:32

Sadie is lovely

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 01/02/2024 19:33

I knew a very cool French girl called Nina so I'd go with that. Sadie sounds very old-fashioned to me.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/02/2024 19:33

Nina.

There aren't many names I truly dislike, but Sadie always strikes me as a rough, hard-faced name.

KayEmAy · 01/02/2024 19:56

Love Sadie

Onelife2024 · 01/02/2024 20:25

I really like both - simple, well known, good for all ages, not overused or dated to a specific era. I think I slightly prefer Sadie, but there’s not much in it!

Really like Sadie ❤️

Is it a diminutive of Sarah? I remember my gran had a lovely friend called Sadie, and I think her real name was Sarah.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/02/2024 20:51

Alliteration is brilliant, so I'd definitely vote for Sadie Smith

SabbatWheel · 01/02/2024 20:52

Nina. I knew a Nina in the 1970s and she was really kooky in a good way.
Sadie just reminds me of my friend’s ex who was a bitch!

sunnyfleur · 01/02/2024 20:56

Good taste OP! This is so creepy as these two names are our exact two choices too!!! Following with interest.

KThnxBye · 01/02/2024 21:09

I like Sadie, as a sound but when I see it written I just see Sad and die.

I do generally like names that are names in their own right and not diminutives, but I wouldn’t want to use Sarah so that would rule out Sadie for me.

I vote Nina

Notellinganyone · 01/02/2024 21:09

Nina.

DesertSnow · 01/02/2024 21:13

Both nice. I'd go Nina

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2024 21:13

Not too fond of either, but Sadie is better.

Nina is insubstantial. I do quite like its international feel, but it feels like it should be short for something.

Neither are classic names, though.

Daffyyellow · 01/02/2024 21:19

Nina, love it!
