Hi everyone, really been struggling for names for our little girl, not due until June so still plenty of time to decide. Out of Jessica and Sophie which do you think is nicer? And are they good classic names or boring?! Opinions please! Thank you 😊

Jessica feels a bit dated to me now.. was very popular in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Don’t hear of it much now.

Sophie is lovely and will stand the test of time more .. good luck

7 yo DD has two Jessica's in her class. I had one in my class at school ( I'm in my forties). I think it's a classic that's always around but never in fashion enough to become " dated". Sophie hit huge popularity recently and is on the decline.

I have a Sophie. At her primary school she was the only Sophie in her school! However now she has a friendship group of 4 girls - 3 are called Sophie and one Sophia!!! (There is one more Sophie in her year too and she only has 30 girls in her year!!!)

No- one has ever called her Soph!

I love the sound of Sophie and don't like the 'ic' part of Jessica. Jess/Jessie is a nice shortening though.

What about Josie/Josephine?

VisitationRights · 21/01/2024 21:02

I really dislike Jessica, I don’t know why as I don’t mind the nickname Jess.

I guess I would choose Sophie out of your two names but I don’t think either one is particularly classic.

Both are lovely. I would pick Jessica out of the two because, as pps have said, Jess is much nicer than Soph and both would likely get shortened at school.
