Tommy.

InTheRainOnATrain · 04/01/2024 19:25

Surely Skyler for a girl and Tommy for a boy? Or am I missing something?

namethoughts · 04/01/2024 19:26

@InTheRainOnATrain It is a unisex name but perhaps too girly...

Styler is usually for a girl and a little dated. I would go with Tommy but Thomas on his birth certificate for when he is an adult.

Kaamos · 04/01/2024 19:30

Tommy

Is it? I think most people would have heard of it as the wife in breaking bad. Also I think the daughter’s name in Wolf of Wall St but don’t hold me to that! Definitely Tommy then if it’s for a boy. Tommy is a lovely name for a little boy!

Agree with this completely

MolkosTeenageAngst · 04/01/2024 19:31

Skyler is to my mind a girls name and Tommy a boy’s name so I guess it depends on whether you’re having a boy or a girl?

Tommy. skyler sounds to american for me and abit chavvy

Kalevala · 04/01/2024 19:44

I'd go with Thomas on the birth certificate then use Tommy or Tom.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 04/01/2024 19:45

Tommy is dreadful, and Skyler is a bit girly.

wizzbitt · 04/01/2024 19:45

DS knew a Skyla (this is how his family spelt it) at nursery. I've never known it as a girl's name.
That said I prefer Tommy

absolutely this.

megletthesecond · 04/01/2024 19:47

Thomas.

drowninginsick · 04/01/2024 19:48

I've only known Skylar as a girls name so I'd say Tommy

Notmetoo · 04/01/2024 19:52

Sklyer sounds like a girls to me. I prefer Tom or Thomas that way he can have options when he is older.

muddyford · 04/01/2024 19:55

Thomas gives him the option of calling himself several forms. You are naming a child for adulthood not perpetual toddlerhood. Skyler is just awful.

lavenderphase · 04/01/2024 19:56

Agree Skyler sounds like a girls name.
I like Thomas/Tom but not Tommy. Most Tommys I can think of are a bit rough.

rainbowhopeful24 · 04/01/2024 19:59

We officially named our son Thomas but refer to him as Tommy so my vote is for Tommy!

OldTinHat · 04/01/2024 20:01

Thomas on the birth certificate. You can give him any nn.

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 04/01/2024 20:04

Not Skyler.
Thomas, Tom for short. Tommy is fine for a child but not an adult.

Falkenburg · 04/01/2024 20:07

Skyler is beyond hideous.

Imagine a middle aged man having to say his name is Skyler?!

whatafuckinnightmare · 04/01/2024 20:16

Skyler sounds like a cartoon character. Tommy is nice but I'd have to use Thomas on the BC.

Kalevala · 04/01/2024 20:33

Tommy on an adult makes me think Robinson. I would always use the proper name on the BC.
