I like it.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 01/01/2024 09:44

It's a cow's name, sorry.

Deliadidit · 01/01/2024 09:45

i think it’s lovely

Whatadayyyy · 01/01/2024 09:47

I like it but I associate it more with a cat/dog name than a baby name

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 01/01/2024 09:47

@LemongrassLollipop

My friend's favourite cow is called clementine! She has over 100 but Clemmie is a sort of pet, hangs out in the garden

LefthandRight · 01/01/2024 09:49

What about just Clove

feelingalittlehorse · 01/01/2024 09:50

Great for a horse looks at horse called Clover 👀

Pemba · 01/01/2024 09:55

I quite like it, probably because of Katy's sister Clover in 'What Katy Did' but a lot of people don't seem to be aware of that and jump straight to butter and cows. If you can have Heather, Ivy or Willow then why not Clover though? Just another plant/flower name. Sounds nicer than, say, Ivy if you ask me.

But I probably wouldn't use it sadly, due to those people's reactions. There are lovely names with a similar sound - Chloe or Clodagh.

SoupDragon · 01/01/2024 09:56

I always think "cow" when I hear the name.

i have never come across an actual person with the name though which might make a difference.

tellstales · 01/01/2024 09:57

Spreads easily

SawYouLookingButChoseToIgnoreYou · 01/01/2024 09:58

That's a margarine, or possibly a cow

SadSandwich · 01/01/2024 09:59

Cow

RoseMarigoldViolet · 01/01/2024 09:59

BeaRF75 · 01/01/2024 10:01

Lovely. Makes me think of What Katy Did too.
I don't understand all the references to cows and butter, tho.

marshmallowfinder · 01/01/2024 10:02

I love it.

Namechange4448830938489 · 01/01/2024 10:05

It's butter and a cow.

GymWhale · 01/01/2024 10:06

Butter.

WeightoftheWorld · 01/01/2024 10:08

Cows, sorry!

Jewelanemone · 01/01/2024 10:09

Made me think of Cloverfield. Great film 😆

CaptainCallisto · 01/01/2024 10:10

I know three, aged 27, 14, and 4. The only negative comments I've ever heard to the name (mostly "sounds like a cow!" or "Wonder if she spreads like the butter?") have come from people of my parents' generation or older; the 27yo is my sister's best friend, and her contemporaries have never made fun of her name.

Sharontheodopolodous · 01/01/2024 10:11

My dc went to school with a clover

Lovely little girl-sparky,cheeky and confident

It really suited her

Her sisters where poppy and daisy

TodayForTomorrow · 01/01/2024 10:11

Also cows. Could be quite cruel.

merrymelodies · 01/01/2024 10:12

Four leaf clover are supposed to be lucky. Honestly, it's a wonderful name for a cow or a pig (pigs are said to be especially happy when in clover) but not for a human being. In my humble opinion.

RabbitsRock · 01/01/2024 10:13

Immediately thought of butter too OP

heartofglass23 · 01/01/2024 10:14

There's no good reason it isn't used more. It is associated with cows/butter but lots of names have odd associations. If it was used more no one would question it.

On the surface it's a lovely name.

If I met someone with the name I'd compliment them on it.
