Cillian, no?

Ablondiebutagoody · 13/12/2023 21:39

Horrific

AQuantityOfNaughtyCats · 13/12/2023 21:40

Cillian or kylie is fine.

barelyfunctional · 13/12/2023 21:41

Cillian
Killian if you absolutely have to
My brain automatically pronounced Kylian like K-eye-Lian

sunqueen97 · 13/12/2023 21:41

Not Cillian, just Kylian. I think I kind of like it so does DH

Is that pronounced Kyle-Ian
Or
Cillian ?

I quite like Kyle but not with Ian on the end.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 13/12/2023 21:42

I've heard of Cillian (Kill - ian) - Irish name - Cillian Murphy actor which is a lovely name. But Kylian (Ky - leeun?) How are you pronouncing it? It doesn't work for me.

HotGirlInHell · 13/12/2023 21:43

I wouldn't assume it was pronounced the same as the actual name Cillian.

To me it reads like Kylie-an.

sunqueen97 · 13/12/2023 21:43

It's pronounced the same as Cillian just spelt differently

Well if you like it that’s what matters but I don’t imagine you’ll get a lot of love for it elsewhere.

Hiyawotcha · 13/12/2023 21:43

Agree with others. Spelling is off. Cillian is fine, though a bit peaky blinder.

Nineteendays · 13/12/2023 21:44

Looks like Kylie-Ann. I wouldn’t pronounce it like Cillian at all

Hiyawotcha · 13/12/2023 21:45

And really depends on pronunciation. The way it’s spelt likely to be pronounced Kye-Lee—An which sounds like the chocolate shells to me a bit.

Spelled wrongly more like.

QueSyrahSyrah · 13/12/2023 21:46

It would be pronounced Kylie-Anne by everyone who saw it before they heard it.

Cillian is fine, no need to spice it up with an exotic spelling.

LoveTheDarts · 13/12/2023 21:46

It's pronounced the same as Cillian just spelt differently incorrectly.

Corrected that for you

MrsBungle · 13/12/2023 21:46

ky-lian? That’s horrible. Cillian is nice.

MargaritaThyme · 13/12/2023 21:46

I’m not sure I would want to name a baby after a famous footballer, however outstanding. (Kylian Mbappé is a French striker who plays for Paris st Germain). Even if the football link isn’t intentional, it’s what most people will automatically assume.

trickortrickier · 13/12/2023 21:47

The name Kylian is a boy's name meaning "war strife or church". The Kylian spelling of this popular Irish name was introduced to the lexicon by French soccer star Kylian Mbappé.

BalletBob · 13/12/2023 21:47

On the off-chance this is genuine...Your poor son will spend his entire life saying "No it's not Kyle Ian, it's actually Cillian" and spelling it out on a daily basis.

Cillian is a great name. Kylian is daft.

Lol, that's who we got the inspiration from

@sunqueen97
If you both like it, go for it, don't worry about strangers on the net!

My first thought was the footballer too 😊

locketrocket · 13/12/2023 21:50

Laughing at all those insisting it's the wrong spelling 😊

sunqueen97 · 13/12/2023 21:50

I honestly think a lot of people IRL who I know would pronounce it correctly

LifeofBrienne · 13/12/2023 21:51

This thread has made me realise I have no idea how Cillian is pronounced. But I’d be very confidently pronouncing Kylian Kyle-ian which it appears isn’t how you would say it!
