Help with spelling of Raeya

Hi there! Just had a baby girl called Raeya but I'm not too sure about the spelling! My partner liked Rhea but I felt that was pronounced like Ria but we want Rae-ah.. is there any other way we can spell it without having to say "its pronounced Rae-ah"

I've seen Reya, Raiya (unsure if that would be pronounced as (rye-ah) and Raya.

Any help is much appreciated 😀

I would pronounce Rhea as you want the name to sound. I've only met one though

Borris · 09/12/2023 07:52

Raya makes most sense to me. To rhyme with Maya.

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 09/12/2023 07:53

Raiah? I think the rest most people will be heavy on the y so will have a 'yah' ending?

Housenoob · 09/12/2023 07:53

Raya. Looks nicer than Raeya.

LucyInTheParkWithDragons · 09/12/2023 07:53

This was on our list, as Raya. We thought that was easiest to spell and pronounce.

Devilsmommy · 09/12/2023 07:54

I'd go for Raiah

purpledahlias · 09/12/2023 07:54

Definitely not Rhea as that's Ria

Raya or Raeya would both be pronounced Ray/Rae-ya.

Flensburg · 09/12/2023 07:55

Reya. I would look up the meanings of the different ways of spelling it too.
Rhea I would pronounce Ree- ah.
Also it would make me think of the bird.

DiaNaranja · 09/12/2023 07:55

Raya surely?

purpledahlias · 09/12/2023 07:56

Reya or Reaya

Catunderling · 09/12/2023 07:56

I'd say Reya

Gumbo · 09/12/2023 07:56

Are you completely set on this name? It's just that naming your baby a name that even you're struggling to spell is setting the child up for a life of having to correct spellings and/or pronunciations.

What's the middle name?

CrapBucket · 09/12/2023 07:56

Raya 100%

also, congratulations!

ThereSnowLimit · 09/12/2023 07:57

Raya is nicest and most straightforward

Saxendi · 09/12/2023 08:00

Freya?

HardcoreLadyType · 09/12/2023 08:01

Congratulations! And welcome to the world little one!

I would go with Rhea. It’s pronounced Ray-a, and it’s the name of a Greek goddess (which I’m sure you know) so a lovely strong name for a girl, and a woman.

She will always have to spell her name out as an adult, I expect, but it’s short, and so do lots of people.

FloweryName · 09/12/2023 08:04

Raya. It’s a lovely name, keep it simple.

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 09/12/2023 08:05

Raya works phonetically. So does Raia (no need for the y there).

Rhea is a different name and pronounced how you think it is. Raeya is a lot of vowels that aren’t quite serving a purpose - you can see what the name is meant to be but it’s quite complicated spelling wise so I think you’re sensible to want to simplify it.

pinkdelight · 09/12/2023 08:09

Rays or Reya. Don't over complicate with ae or aia or you're dooming her to a life of misspelling and explaining. Even you are struggling to spell and pronounce it so that's not a great omen. Keep it simple.

pinkdelight · 09/12/2023 08:09

*Raya

user1492757084 · 09/12/2023 08:10

Raya and Rae are names derived from Rachael - Biblical meaning ewe and gentleness.
Less common spelling .. Raea, Raeia, Raeiya, Reya

Raya seems most logical to me. Use the local popular way to spell it if there are girls in the district called Raya

muddyford · 09/12/2023 08:10

Raya. If you are struggling that issue won't go away.

iamthecakefairy · 09/12/2023 08:12

I would assume Raya is pronounced differently - “rye-ah” - but mainly due to the Disney film.

salamirose · 09/12/2023 08:13

If you want it pronounced Ray-A I would go with Raya

mamatoTails · 09/12/2023 08:14

Raya.
