Just that really. Middle name either way would be Joseph. Any particular preference and why?

Daniel Joseph
Dominic Joseph

Thanks,
R.

Daniel

TootenCarMoon · 02/12/2023 21:56

I know a few toddler and teenage Daniels but no Dominics and I’ve always loved the name so- Dominic.

TotalOverhaul · 02/12/2023 21:56

I prefer Daniel.

For me, Dominic falls into that category of aggressive male names: Victor, Dominic, Ira - all with meanings linked to fighting.

theduchessofspork · 02/12/2023 21:59

Daniel - because I like Dan but not Dom

Saying that I know a couple of Dominics who go by Nic which I do like

Still slightly prefer Daniel though

PurpleChrayne · 02/12/2023 22:01

Daniel.

Dominic reminds me of dominatrix. Plus, at school, there was a boy named Dominic and the other lads used to call him Condominic, which I've never forgotten!

TomatoSandwiches · 02/12/2023 22:03

Prefer Joseph as a first name.

Joseph Daniel Surname.

MaloneMeadow · 02/12/2023 22:12

Daniel 100%

Dominic inevitably gets shorted to Dom which is awful

peppermum60 · 02/12/2023 22:23

Ah well I have a 27 year old Dominic Joseph and I still love it. His friends and colleagues call him Dom (why is it awful?) but he's still Dominic to us.

I also liked Daniel but a nephew already had that name

janfebmarchapril · 02/12/2023 22:23

Dominic. I've always found Daniel harsh

tinytemper66 · 02/12/2023 22:43

Dominic

Leafysuburb · 02/12/2023 22:45

Danny boy for sure

GreenIsTheMagicColour · 02/12/2023 22:51

Daniel is much nicer.

I find Dominic pretty "wet".

Gooseysgirl · 02/12/2023 22:55

My choice between the two would be Daniel. I've personally never been a fan of the name Dominic, dunno why. I don't know any under 50, so it's definitely an underused name.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 02/12/2023 22:59

Dominic. I've got one. He's wonderful. And he never gets called Dom.

SquigglePigs · 02/12/2023 23:01

I prefer Daniel. It was on our short list for a boy (so was Joseph!).

Moveoverdarlin · 02/12/2023 23:02

Daniel. Definitely.

peaceinourtime · 02/12/2023 23:02

Daniel for sure, it’s much nicer

Grimmz · 02/12/2023 23:04

Both are OK but there really are an awful lot of Dans out there.

Schum · 02/12/2023 23:07

Dominic.
Daniel is very popular and a bit dull.

atthebottomofthehill · 02/12/2023 23:09

Daniel is a lovely name

Dominic is not

RuthW · 02/12/2023 23:35

Dominic. I dislike Dan but love Dom.

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2023 23:58

Love both. I vote Daniel, because if I'd had a fourth boy he might've been Daniel.

KirstenBlest · 03/12/2023 08:22

Daniel because the Dominics I know all get called Dom.
There used to be a tv advert for Domestos that went 'Big bad Dom'.

UrghAnotherOne · 03/12/2023 08:26

I like both Dan / Danny and Dom but I don't particularly like either of the full names.

SallyWD · 03/12/2023 08:54

I like them both but prefer Dominic
