Twin Boy Names

Hoping to find some ideas for twin boy names to go with the surname Hesford.

We've always struggled so much with boys names, and then finding out we were having two has made it twice as hard!

We prefer more traditional names such as
-Arthur
-Jack
-Harry (but not with our surname unfortunately. Makes me think of Harry Hill?!)

  • Henry (as above)
  • William
-George

Less traditional

  • Archie
  • Alfie

We cannot agree on two names at all, but know for definite that we prefer a traditional style name, but cannot for the life of us pick two!

I really like all of your name choices, we have similar taste although for me, Alfie and Archie fall into the nickname category where I’m not sure I’d use them as a standalone name. Of your options, I think George and Arthur go lovely together.

I was reading a bedtime story earlier and saw that the author had dedicated the book to her grandsons Will and Nat, I thought that combination of names for brothers was absolutely lovely, so I’d say William and Nathaniel with those shortenings.

Aquamarine1029 · 02/12/2023 23:46

Fraser Hesford
Vaughn Hesford
Martin Hesford
Austin Hesford
Morgan Hesford

I wouldn’t go with Henry or Harry with that last name as too close to Henry Ford. I would also only choose one A name, so:

Jack and Alfie
George and Edward
Arthur and Frederick
Archie and William

Oh god that would be awful 😂 despite enjoying Bill and Ben the flowerpot men as a kid, I'd definitely not want mine to be called that!

Yeah I completely agree with you regarding Archie and Alfie. I like them but they feel too "cute" and more like nicknames. But then I don't like Archibald or Alfred, so those options never really stuck

I'd go for one or two syllable names, because you'll be saying 'Name & Name' a lot. Elder twin gets one name, younger twin gets a name that comes before it in the alphabet
e.g. Tom & Arthur, not Alexander & Zachary

George & Arthur are fine but very popular so they'll probably be George Twin and Arthur Twin. Having said that, the names might not be popular in your area.

Look for names that go with the surname. Jack H- doesn't flow all that well and might sound like Jackesford. Henry, Harry etc gets into 'Enry 'Iggins territory. Some names don't really date.

I'd not use Alfie or Archie. They've been overused and are often used for dogs.

Thomas & Andrew.
Anthony & Christopher.
Francis. & Vincent
Jacob & Gabriel.
Matthew & James
Julien & Conrad.
Alex & Jude.
Oscar & Ethan.
Michael & Daniel
Connor & Louie.

Lots of lovely names suggested. My top tip is give the second born the name that comes first in the alphabet and don't tell them who was born first until they are older teens and can be more mature about it. Twin boys will find any reason to be competitive. It makes no difference who was born first. You'll thank me later.

Mumofgirls2017 · 03/12/2023 11:12

I’d pick Arthur and George think they go great. I do like Harry, I think you could get away with it but not Henry so much.

other ideas if you want:

charlie
louis
frederick/ freddie
albert/ albie
james
wilfred
edward
vinfent/ vinnie
theodore/ teddy
thomas
alexander
oliver
