Calling a baby Quentin!

Ooookkkkay, so my friend's going to call her little boy Quentin! She knows I hate it but I know she hates my chosen baby name and neither of us care, we both find it quite funny. Is anyone out there a fan of Quentin? Or do you think slightly weirdo 50 year old who wears a mismatch of tweed and mustard cord trousers?

i love Quentin!! 'Q' is cool. I also love Quinn for a girl.

Sidge · 13/03/2008 14:11

Eww no!

LynetteScavo · 13/03/2008 14:12

Well, if she doesn't send him to a private school, he will grow up one tough little cookie!

LynetteScavo · 13/03/2008 14:13

I'm thinking very skinny and ginger.

Errr, no, and I usually like unusual names. Come on, are you going to tell us your chosen baby name?

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:14

aww, I think it is cute.

kitsmummy · 13/03/2008 14:15

Yeah ok snooks, it's Woody. Go on, I can take it!

OP posts:
PotPourri · 13/03/2008 14:16

I don't like it personally.

LynetteScavo · 13/03/2008 14:22

I love Woody!!!!

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:59

woody!

I guess I jsut can't ehlp thinking of toy story...

thell · 13/03/2008 15:09

There was a Quentin used to hang around our old local, and you described him! Wore old tweeds, specs, flirted with men and women and collected glasses just to feel useful.

I quite like Woody :0)

skidoodle · 13/03/2008 15:10

reminds me of Uncle Quentin from the Famous Five.

And I think we all know that he was a lasher.

branflake81 · 13/03/2008 17:03

Makes me think of Quentin Blake the illustrator.

grannyslippers · 13/03/2008 17:18

Had a lovely friend at Uni called Quentin, he was the nicest bloke you could meet. Used to sign himself Q sometimes. Great name.

He was a bit inclined to corduroy though!

Your name is what you make it.

dizzydixies · 13/03/2008 17:20

did there not used to be a bloke on top gear called quentin who moved to his own car show on channel 5 or am I completely wrong

I wouldn't use it myself but it doesn't offend me lol

LaDiDaDi · 13/03/2008 18:13

I vaguely know a Quentin from work. He is a bit posh and very, very clever. He pulls it off and I quite like it.

I think that Zoe Ball's son is called Woody.

snooks · 13/03/2008 19:20

Kitsmummy, I think Woody is a great name! (Altho slightly tainted for me because I had an ex called that, but he was a nice bloke )

Isn't Zoe Ball's and Fatboy Slim's ds called Woody or did I dream it? But that's good company imo.

We are 99% calling dd3 (due May, first dd, got 2 dses) Pearl but don't dare tell anyone in rl because we just know most people will be

snooks · 13/03/2008 19:21

Sorry just read your Zoe Ball mention LaDiDaDi!

Blandmum · 13/03/2008 19:22

Woody?

and in 'I've got a woody in my pants'??

snooks · 13/03/2008 19:23

Well don't tell everyone MB!

GrapefruitMoon · 13/03/2008 19:24

Kitsmummy, don't want to put you off but Woody is slang for an erection where I come from - always pmsl when I see that some celeb (like the forementioned Zoe Ball) has called their child that!

GrapefruitMoon · 13/03/2008 19:25

ooh just saw your post MB1 - not just an irish thing then!

suwoo · 13/03/2008 19:27

I loved the name Woody for DS, but our surname starts with woodi... So wasn't really a goer

suedonim · 13/03/2008 20:30

To the OP, yup, that's exacty how I visualise a Quentin. There was a doctor of that name where I lived as a child and he did indeed wear tweed and cords and always, always a check tweed hat, whatever the weather. He was rather loopy, too.

Woody had rude connotations in America, where my ds lives, so it's not a name I'd choose, personally.
