All 'off the wall'
Maya & Kamile are best of the bunch, but please spell it Camille

Mirrormeback · 25/11/2023 22:15

Maya is ok

Pinkpinkpink15 · 25/11/2023 22:18

Matis & Kamile

ZinniaB · 25/11/2023 22:19

A touch too “out there” for my taste, but nice fresh sounds and ideas.

For a boy I would drop Moze and use either Matteo or Matthias.

For a girl I would do:
Camille as PP suggested (or Celine?)
Nina or Mina instead of Lina or Mila
If you like the unusual (nowadays) K beginning, I like Kerensa.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 25/11/2023 22:20

I’m not a fan of the boys names. I like Maya and Mila is okay.

BluebellsareBlue · 25/11/2023 22:30

Oh dear 🫣

CatonmyKeyboard · 25/11/2023 22:35

Do you have Lithuanian heritage? I like Matis and Maya, but I thought Kamile was a boy's name, so slightly confused here.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/11/2023 22:36

Oh jeez. Ok. Spell Matiz differently, like suggested upthread and it’s probably ok. Girls names are ok, but please don’t spell Camille with a -K.
Moze gives Balonz a run for its money..😉

Swearwolf · 25/11/2023 22:43

I like Moze! I've only seen it spelt as Mose though.

Yokaiwatch · 25/11/2023 22:45

Mila or Maya are nice…. The others are not to my taste.

Is Moze pronounced like ‘mosey on down’?

Yes, I'm Lithuanian and DH is Russian and Ukrainian. Kamilė is a girls name. Thank you for your feedback.

I do like Celine and Nina. Thank you.

I really like Matis, Lina, and Mila.

I live in an area with a good few Baltic, Russian, Ukrainian, and Eastern European immigrants in the US so the names are not unfamiliar. I think the three I mention are appealing in an Anglophone society.

ActDottie · 25/11/2023 22:56

Maya and Mila are ok.

The others are awful.

OuiOuiMonAmiJeMappelleLafayette · 25/11/2023 23:00

Lina is lovely. Reminds me of a friend I had when I was 11. 30 years ago ish.

Maya is nice too.

softfig · 25/11/2023 23:03

Lovely names OP. I like Matis and Kamile. And Nina from your reply.

Also ignore the ignorant posters who can't fathom that not everyone here is English or wants to choose a plain English name.

SkaneTos · 25/11/2023 23:14

All those names are nice!
Lina is my favourite among the girl names.

I like the name Katya, I know a very nice woman from Ukraine with that name. She is in her 50's, I don't know how common it is among children nowadays.

Lovebeingamummy2 · 25/11/2023 23:17

I don't like any of them maybe Mila at a push but then I think names are such a personal taste

Chipsatsunset · 25/11/2023 23:18

I love all your girl choices. I think Moze I’ll be pronounced wrong and if you’re in the UK you/he will be correcting people a lot when they first meet him. On that basis I’d go with Matis.

what about Linas, Elijah, Fabius, Lukas, Darius.

Other girl ideas: Annike, Daina, Justina.

DinaofCloud9 · 25/11/2023 23:20

Matis
Lina and Kamile.

I like them but not fussed on the others sorry.

theduchessofspork · 26/11/2023 10:47

I think Matis is very nice and easy to know how to pronounce

Moze (whether it’s said Mose, Mo-Zie or Mo-zuh) isn’t very nice and will be a pain for him

Is Kamile said Camilla?? In which case I’d go for that - or I’d find something for Lina to be short for eg Janina. Lina on it’s own is a bit nothing, Maya has been done to death, and Mila/Milly is nothing-y and overdone.

Chanhedforthis · 26/11/2023 10:50

Apart from Maya they all sound made up.

MerryChristmasToYou · 26/11/2023 11:39

Boy: Both look non-British, are they from a specific country/region?
Matis - from Matthias? May-tis, Mat-is or Matees?
Moze - from Moses? Mowz, Mozy or Mo-zay?

Girls
Lina -ok, looks like it's short for something like Carolina
Kamile - looks wrong. Isn't Kamil an arabic boy's name? Camilla or Camille look better. Camille - Kam-eel or Kam-ee?
Maya - May-a or My-a?
Mila - meela or My-la?

I think Lina is the easiest one, but I'm not keen on it. Seems too much like Lena, Lan and Luna.
Maya and Mila are a bit boring.
Camille is very pretty

Both boy's names are ok

MerryChristmasToYou · 26/11/2023 11:46

@softfig , Not all of us in the UK are English. I hadn't read beyond the OP when I posted, but your calling others ignorant is uncalled for.
OP asked for opinions.

Yes I know full well that not everyone in the UK is English thank you. Including me, and including the OP, which was obvious from her list of names and her subsequent post confirming it. The 'these sound like made up names', ‘off the wall', “out there” comments are ignorant and they are the ones you should be aiming your ‘uncalled for’ at. These are not helpful to constructive comments. None of these names are out there/off the wall/made up and it is a regular and completely over done thing on MN to say this kind of shit about ‘foreign’ sounding names. OP asked for opinions, she didn't ask for Xenophobia. And it should never be welcome.
