Can't decide on names

We have 3 girls age 2, 3 and 5. Expecting baby 4 (girl) in January. All my girls have nature names. We are torn between Kaia and Summer for this baba. Thoughts? Which do you like better? I love them both equally!

I’m not mad keen on either but Kaia of the two.

MaloneMeadow · 24/11/2023 21:43

Not a fan of Kaia, I adore Summer but think it’s a bit odd for a winter baby if I’m honest. It’s lovely on a little girl but when she’s older it could come across quite twee

Mamato4girls · 24/11/2023 21:50

Oh it doesn't bother me whatsoever if she's a winter baby and her name is Summer. Lol. What's does 'twee' mean?

Summer

cheleuh · 24/11/2023 22:00

Summer

wellingtonsandwaffles · 24/11/2023 22:40

Summer is a better name.

how about Fern / Skye / Seren / Holly / Ivy

FayCarew · 24/11/2023 22:57

Not Summer. Kaia is better.

Mamato4girls · 24/11/2023 23:03

Not keen on fern/skye. Holly is a friends name and ivy is my friends kids name. Seren isn't very us. Thank you though

Kaia for me.

FayCarew · 24/11/2023 23:14

How about Gaia instead of Kaia.
I'd use a nature name not a season name
There are some flowers that are around in January.

Mamato4girls · 24/11/2023 23:16

There's something about Gaia that I don't like. Although I do like the meaning behind it. All my girls are flower/tree/water names. Summer somehow got stuck in my head but I'm not 100% sure on it.

Summer.

User6761 · 24/11/2023 23:32

Prefer Summer of the two options but not overly keen.

Other suggestions -
April/Avril
Heather
Hazel
Noelle
Autumn
Iris
Marina

Mamato4girls · 24/11/2023 23:48

Hazel is my mums name. Bestie is Heather. Lol. We are very limited on names with baby 4 but thank you! I do like Iris but I can't help but see 'Irish' when I read it.

Daphne? Laurel?

I do really like Summer.

Anotheranonymousname · 25/11/2023 00:15

Of the two, I prefer Summer but not for a January baby. I know a child named Winter and have always thought it a rather cool name.

Laurel, Sorrel and Olive are other nature names I like.

toomanyleggings · 25/11/2023 00:22

Summer of the two. It wouldn’t suit a child of mine though 🙈

Mamato4girls · 25/11/2023 00:24

I don't think it matters what season she is born in.

I love Winter but I don't like Winnie for a nn which she would probably end up being. Winnie is a close family's dog name which has really put me off using it unfortunately.

Ahh names are so hard!! Maybe I'll just know when I see her. Kaia is not a popular name on mumsnet by the looks of it either. Lol

I prefer Summer.

What about Stella or Estelle? Means 'star' so a subtle nod to the Christmas season.

blackoverbillsmothers · 25/11/2023 01:12

Jasmine
Heather
Rosa

mugofstew · 25/11/2023 01:17

I really think summer for a January baby is all kinds of wrong, rather than just twee.
Iris is much classier but I'm sure there are many better choices than Summer.

Einevinefine · 25/11/2023 01:20

Love Kaia, also Keirah and Keizah
I’m not so keen on Summer.
Hope it all goes well for you

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/11/2023 01:35

Kaia is lovely

crumblingschools · 25/11/2023 01:38

You may not mind her being called Summer although a winter baby, but she may, especially if she gets constantly asked why her parents called her Summer when born in January

Anotheranonymousname · 25/11/2023 01:58

I know of a teenager born in the autumn whose middle name is Summer. She's pretty fed up of explaining to those whose grasp of timescales isn't great that it's not because she was conceived in the summer...
