DS2 name help Jude vs Percy

Expecting DS2 any day now, DH and I have found names so much harder this time around but think we have narrowed it down to two - Jude or Percy. DS1 is Dylan and our surname is Richardson. Which do you think goes better? Any other name suggestions?

Other names we liked but couldn’t agree on - Ivan/ Caleb/ Joseph/ Arthur/ Theo

Def Dylan ... avoid Percy! Percy pig

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 23/11/2023 09:24

You must have very contrasting tastes to have such different names as your final two.

Of the two I would choose Jude. I don't usually care much about matching sibsets but Dylan and Percy are a really strange combo. I don't think your youngest would thank you.

Their first child is called Dylan, so they can’t use that again. The choices are Jude or Percy.

OP, I’d go for Jude.

SouperWoman · 23/11/2023 09:26

Jude is better than Percy.

But Theo is the nicest name on your long list.
And Ivan a close second.

Good luck.

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 23/11/2023 09:27

Def don't call your dc Percy. Isn't it a nn for a penis?

piglet81 · 23/11/2023 09:28

Definitely Jude. I can’t take Percy seriously, sorry!

peaceinourtime · 23/11/2023 10:06

Percy is so nice

That's their first son's name I suspect he won't be impressed at having his sibling share it. 😆

I'd go for Jude it sounds better with Dylan and your surname and Percy just makes me think Pig.

Kaamos · 23/11/2023 10:12

Jude

Olika · 23/11/2023 10:13

Definitely Jude.

Wahwoo · 23/11/2023 10:14

You can’t call a child Percy!! It’s awful. Anything else on your list is nice.

spiderlight · 23/11/2023 10:15

Jude, Theo or Caleb. Percy would be setting him up for years of teasing about Percy Pig.

LoveTheDarts · 23/11/2023 10:17

'Point the Percy at the Porcelain.' 🍆 🚽

CanIPutTheTreeUpYet · 23/11/2023 10:17

We have a child locally called Percy. No one bats an eyelid. It actually really suits him. He even has a brother called Dylan.
Then again, there's loads of older names popping up around here.

SABM10 · 23/11/2023 10:18

Jude 100%. Jude is cute on a small child, cool on a teen and sophisticated on an adult. And is a really good fit with Dylan.

Percy is none of these things IMO.

GinBlossom94 · 23/11/2023 10:19

DS1 wanted us to call DS2 Percy as he was obsessed with Thomas The Tank Engine, we did not call him that!

Go with Jude

Imreallytiredandanxioustoday · 23/11/2023 10:20

I love Jude with Dylan

FrenchandSaunders · 23/11/2023 10:21

Whoops I meant Jude!

viques · 23/11/2023 10:23

Joseph. Timeless and classic.

Shalopea · 23/11/2023 10:23

Jude. Not Percy!

another suggestion: Jacob

To be fair I think I'd prefer two kids called Dylan to one who is going to be constantly called Percy pig (and naturally everyone will assume they are hilarious and the first person to ever make the joke which will make it even more tedious). Grin

DS2 once said " why didn't you call me Percy?" for similar TtheT reasons. Oh how we all laughed!
He's very glad we didn't now.

Jude all the way. Goes well with your first DS too.

Scruffington · 23/11/2023 10:24

Percy is beyond awful. On a par with Cyril. Just dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.

Jude is fine. I like Ivan from the list of discarded names.

Doublebiscuit77 · 23/11/2023 10:43

I prefer all the discarded names (apart from Ivan).

I prefer Percy to Jude though (would it be Percival nn Percy?). Reminds me of an old neighbour who was the loveliest man. I know it's an old name, but Jude is a bit too currently cool and trendy for me.

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/11/2023 10:45

ooft, not Percy. Literally anything but!
