Phoenix.... for a girl?
Would like to know your thoughts please.
Sibling has a biblical name, not sure if it's too different.
Thank you!

Mel B

DappledThings · 21/11/2023 23:30

Bit eyeroll inducing.

LulooLemon · 21/11/2023 23:47

No

Charlie2121 · 21/11/2023 23:48

Not good. Avoid.

Grimmz · 21/11/2023 23:48

As a modern girl's name it feels very American. And a bit passé

I prefer biblical myself!

PickledScrump · 21/11/2023 23:50

I loved it when I was a teenager, used to think it would be a cool name to have. Now I’m an adult I’m glad it’s not my name.

Phoenix - no.
Do you like ..
Phaedra
Phoebe
Beatrix - Trixie
Alix
Rebecca

Hotchocolatemousse · 22/11/2023 05:18

It's a bit try hard and in the Jayden category of names.

greekprincess · 22/11/2023 07:46

@Grimmz I could pick lots of biblical boys names as love them, but can't seem to love any girls names. The only one I vaguely like is Delilah but as such a negative meaning.

dianashilling · 22/11/2023 07:56

It's a bit ridiculous.

KirstenBlest · 22/11/2023 08:05

What boys' names do you like?

This

Scary Spice has a Phoenix, now in her 20s. It sounds a bit 90s to me.

SneezyEvie · 22/11/2023 09:39

Not keen. I wouldn’t like to be called it as a professional adult.

I’d go for Phoebe Beatrix then she can have Phoenix as a fun nickname.

MaloneMeadow · 22/11/2023 10:34

Awful

minipie · 22/11/2023 10:34

Wanky

catin8oots · 22/11/2023 10:37

No

Berlinlover · 22/11/2023 10:37

I immediately think of Mel B.

SABM10 · 22/11/2023 10:43

My friend has an 8 year old Phoenix and it suits her perfectly. However friend is very alternative/hippy and both she and her daughter are extremely confident, outgoing and eye catchingly good looking (tall, slim with masses of bright blonde hair). I would never call a daughter of mine a name like that because any DD I had would most likely be short, stocky and a bit socially awkward (like me 😆).

I think as a name it's a lot to live up to.

NotFastButFurious · 22/11/2023 12:12

I believe it's quite common among those who change their name to go with their non-binary identity.

Phoenix rising from the ashes I suppose.

WoolyMammoth55 · 22/11/2023 13:24

Naomi is my favourite biblical girls name, OP.

Phoenix is a hard no from me.

Lots of lovely biblical girls names ..

Esther
Rachel
Mary
Miriam

For me, Phoenix is a boy's name. Like Felix.

Mummymummy89 · 22/11/2023 13:28

Also it reminds me of the word vernix which is that goo newborn babies are born with.

(But maybe that's because I'm pg atm and therefore thinking about newborn babies).

You'll also get people struggling to spell it maybe

nameXname · 22/11/2023 19:49

The Phoenix of myths and legends - the origin of the name - was male, not female.

FMLife · 22/11/2023 19:51

DappledThings · 21/11/2023 23:30

Bit eyeroll inducing.

Yup.
