Slightly piggy backing off another thread in this topic but just really curious about this.

Obviously we've all heard of some very unusual suggestions on this site and we can all think of a celeb that's opted for something very unique but in your day to day life what would you say is most unusual you've come across?

For me it'd probably be Maverick for a boy and Lavender-Lily for a girl.

Haha this is my last name!

Mamette · 21/11/2023 20:54

I went to primary school with a boy called Aneas which the teacher used to pronounce “Ay-nas”

I remember my parents sniggering about it for years afterwards.
“Ay-nas! Sit down please!” “Ay-nas!! Stop that!”

I worked with someone whose sons were Stetson and Maverick. Can't remember what his daughters were called.

I know a baby boy called Lucky.

Some of these are lovely. Silvercup for example.

Loveahobby · 21/11/2023 20:56

@princefamilypaper no it’s A for Adley, her brother is Navy..

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/11/2023 20:56

Little girl called Tequila. Boys called Fable and Clay.

I used to work at a university which attracted lots of overseas students, particularly from China. Often the Chinese students would choose an English “name”, but often it was just a word rather than a name, like the first thing they saw when they arrived in the UK. Some of those were very unusual.

I’ve taught plenty of students called things like Bliss, Precious, King who were mainly Nigerian.

Banana. I am absolutely 100% not kidding!! For a NN they called her 'Nana' - I met the Mum in a Park and just had to ask, she was actually a really lovely lady and said she named her daughter after her pregnancy craving! Mine would be Coco-Pop in that case Grin

Loveday is a fab name!

Cherry, Star and a girl called Charlie.

I know of a few girls named Charlie. Has never struck me as odd. Neither is Star nowadays. Or Cherry particularly.

Twins called Angel and Halo

bakewellbride · 21/11/2023 21:00

@Stillthewrongsideof40 what's wrong with Charlie? it's a very common nickname for Charlotte.

BabyQuark · 21/11/2023 21:00

Loveday is one of my favourite names, but DH vetoed it unfortunately 😔
Colleague of mine named her daughter Blossom which is cute now while she's a toddler, but she's hardly going to be taken seriously as a leading attorney or something.
Once got chatted up in a park by a guy whose son was called Messiah. His logic was that "no-one's going to bully him if he's named after the literal Messiah" 😳

Aled and Brody are extremely normal. Some of the people on this thread are so narrow minded! Guessing they're the people who are still calling their kids dull names like John and Emma....yaaaaawn

Loveahobby · 21/11/2023 20:39

@Pocketfullofdogtreats Solstice is actually quite cool! Maybe for a girl though? I have one but don’t want to say as I’d probably out myself if any mums from my DD’s class were on here and can’t be arsed to NC!

It did suit him. He was born on the midwinter solstice and he was a bit of a hippy with long blond hair. Sol is a good nn. His sister was called Wilhelmina - I never could figure that out!

sparklefresh · 21/11/2023 21:02

Honeybee - a very pretentious family
Paisley
Zephaniah

RedRobyn2021 · 21/11/2023 21:02

Hendrix

And more recently

Axe (not short for anything)

Berlinlover · 21/11/2023 21:03

Tudor

Walker1178 · 21/11/2023 21:03

Michael, doesn’t sound too bad until
you hear that his surname was also Michael. The guy was called Michael Michael. I really wanted to ask if he had a middle name..
