Absolutely love Seth and James. Don’t like any of the others on your list.

InTheRainOnATrain · 21/11/2023 14:19

I like Francis.

ZuliKyanLarsFoz · 21/11/2023 14:21

Francis is definitely the best on your list

TotalOverhaul · 21/11/2023 14:24

I love Isiah, Seth, Wilfred and Francis from your list. I like all the others too. I'd choose a name that can be shortened to something you also like, so that's my only hesitation about Isiah - Izzy? Isa? Not great, whereas Wilf, Frank, Max etc all sound great.

mathanxiety · 21/11/2023 14:27

I like Isaiah, Francis, and Edwin, in that order.

Katiesaidthat · 21/11/2023 14:43

Francis, definitely.

MerryChristmasToYou · 21/11/2023 15:06

Edwin - like
Seth - don't like
Wilfred - ok
Wilbur - don't like
Moses - not sure
Francis - like
Jago - Jago is a form of James
Maxim - ok
Isaiah - too long

Middle name James. - filler middle name

Use James as the first name, possibly Jago for short, and Francis or Edwin as a middle name to avoid Frank or Ed.

AdaColeman · 21/11/2023 15:21

I like Edwin, Wilfred, Francis and Jago from your list, with Jago and Edwin favourites.

Moses, Seth and Isaiah are a bit too Old Testament for me, and I would prefer Maximilian to Maxim.

Yoyoban · 21/11/2023 15:26

I only like Isaiah or Francis from your list (in that order). At a push Jago is ok too.

Actively dislike all the rest.

Lamelie · 21/11/2023 15:26

Good list. All quite posh. If his sister is Jacey- Mae it’d jar but apart from that, lovely list.

ZinniaB · 21/11/2023 15:48

Maxim is my favourite boys name, strong, classic but fresh and contemporary sounding, international feel. Please use it!

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2023 15:50

The only one that doesn't work is Jago James. Jago is Cornish for Jacob and James and Jacob share the same root.

Mumofgirls2017 · 21/11/2023 15:58

I like Jago but can’t have Jago james!

otherwise Seth of Wilfred.

Doublebiscuit77 · 21/11/2023 16:57

Jago and Seth don't really go with James - all of the others go well. My favourites are Wilfred and Maxim.

MissyB1 · 21/11/2023 16:59

I like Seth and Francis from your list. I would prefer Edward to Edwin.

Lifeinlists · 21/11/2023 17:16

No one would ever spell Isaiah correctly so that rules that one out straight away. I know it's not on your list but Elijah is similar and easier to spell.

Francis is ok though a certain recent former head of the British army stopped using that (his first name) as he thought it was a bit too wet. I don't, but other people may. Wilbur is the pig in Charlotte's Web so I can't get past that.
Edwin's ok but Edward is better.

shoopshoopdedoo · 21/11/2023 22:05

I love James - would use it as a first name!

Otherwise, I quite like Edwin (prefer Edward) and Francis (love Frank). Used to like Wilfred until it became associated with Boris Johnson. Not fond of the others.

StampOnTheGround · 21/11/2023 22:07

Seth is nice, I don't like Maxim but love Max.

Personally don't like any of the others on your list!

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 21/11/2023 22:30

Sorry, forgot to add that I wouldn’t use James as the middle name if I used Jago! James is a family name which we want to use for that reason but my other children’s names are a bit longer or more unusual (not super unusual but a bit frillier maybe? Their sister called Tabitha, for example) so i’m worried James sounds a bit odd as the first name - just one syllable and fairly popular. As you said Jago is a form of James so wouldn’t need to use both 😊

Good point. The Isaiah I know goes by ‘Zay’ which is quite cool.

Love Edward but without being too outing my surname means Edward but in a different language so I feel I can’t use that either 😤

OP posts:
Lifeinlists · 21/11/2023 22:42

I think my point about the misspelling of Isaiah is already happening OP from the post you quoted!
Plus if the one you know is called Zay, how are you pronouncing it? Are you in the UK?

Jewelspun · 21/11/2023 22:46

Edwin - Edwin Starr - NO
Seth - NO
Wilfred - Wilfred a Hyde-Whyte - NO
Wilbur - Wilbur wants to kill himself - NO
Moses - The Ten Commandments- NO
Francis - OK-ish
Jago - Lovely name.
Maxim - Ok-ish
Isaiah - One eyes higher - NO

TruJay · 21/11/2023 22:56

I love Isiah and Moses and know lovely boys each with those names.

Not overly keen on the others but not bad names.
Maxim would be a no from me because it’s the name of our local Chinese takeaway.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 22/11/2023 00:31

Wilfred.
Dislike the rest.
