What do you guys think of the name Matilda?

TheHawkisHowling · 15/11/2023 15:09

I really like it

toastofthetown · 15/11/2023 18:50

Matilda feels dull and tired to me. It's coming down in popularity after a peak in 2016.

iliveinhappyvalley · 15/11/2023 19:24

It's a classic! Tilly for short, I love it

Lunde · 15/11/2023 19:26

I love Matilda and the variants - Mathilda, Matilde, Mathilde

Reba767 · 15/11/2023 19:29

I have one and I still love the name, she's a teenager now. Friends called her Mattie, some people call her Tilly or Tilda too. She's the only one in her year and all through primary.

NotFastButFurious · 15/11/2023 19:36

Really like it

beccahamlet · 15/11/2023 19:37

Love it.

Onedicktoanother · 15/11/2023 19:39

Pretty name

DiaNaranja · 15/11/2023 19:39

Love it 😍

TheChosenTwo · 15/11/2023 19:41

It was one of my choices 20 years abo but Dh didn’t like it so we didn’t go with it. I still like it.

Elzibells · 15/11/2023 19:41

Really love it

Sleepnplay · 15/11/2023 21:23

Love it, and the nn Tilda

SneezyEvie · 15/11/2023 21:27

Me too 😭 @TheChosenTwo

theduchessofspork · 15/11/2023 21:33

There’s a lot of them - mostly aged about 8 to 20 around where I am - but it’s nice.

fishshop · 15/11/2023 21:34

Yes, but Mattie not Tilly.

PoppyOrange · 15/11/2023 21:35

Very overused.

cfmtb · 15/11/2023 21:39

Lovely name, however I have 3 in my 20 person mums group! Seems to be v popular at the minute if that bothers you

BoleynMemories13 · 16/11/2023 06:47

Not one of my personal favourites but nice enough.

Hard to predict current popularity with the 2022 data still not available, yet alone this year's, but I have a feeling it's on the up again after the release of the new musical film. I have heard it on 3 newborns this year alone.

dressedforcomfort · 16/11/2023 07:47

Not keen on Matilda - feels a bit fussy to me. But there are two in my DS's class so clearly others disagree. Do expect that by age 7 or 8 all her classmates will have shortened it and use a variety of nicknames - Tilly, Tilda, Tildy , Tills, Matty etc.

ChickenBhunaandChips · 16/11/2023 13:17

Overused.

PerspiringElizabeth · 16/11/2023 13:22

Love it! Hate Tilly. Love Tilda or just Matilda!

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 16/11/2023 13:23

Was on my shortlist alongside Madeleine wish I fought harder for both my DH …such a good lifelong name

RosesAndHellebores · 16/11/2023 13:25

I think it's nice albeit with the caveat that dd who is 25 has a multitude of friends called: Tilly, Milly, Molly, Ellie, etc.

DugInLikeAnAlabamaTick · 16/11/2023 13:29

I dont like it

NuffSaidSam · 17/11/2023 01:07

I love it. And it's underused in it's full form . Lots of Matilda's but called Tilly/Millie/Mattie/Tilda not many actually called Matilda ime.
