Biased cause it’s my daughters name, but I love it. We always call her Matilda, but she calls herself Tilda. There isn’t another one in her nursery either, despite its popularity. It’s easy to say and spell and will hopefully age well.

I like Matilda, the one in Ds's classs & another in one of his extracurriculars are both very umc so I associate it as a posh girl name! Very pretty & international, it's a name that's easy to spell.
Also travels well. Popular in Germany, France, Sweden, Finland & Holland.

I have one, nn Tilda and I still adore it.

Not a common name where we are in Ireland. I only know one and she’s in her twenties now. I’ve know her since she was little. Often called Tilda. I love the name. Tilly for short.

I love it. And it's underused in it's full form . Lots of Matilda's but called Tilly/Millie/Mattie/Tilda not many actually called Matilda ime.

Mine is a Matilda. No one shortens it.
I'm a teacher (13 years in) and have taught a few Tillys but only 2 Matilda's. I'm secondary though.

Rachaelrachael · 20/11/2023 21:10

I love it! I would have chosen it but not keen on any of the shortened versions.

DesertSnow · 22/11/2023 22:53

I really like it, and offers a few nn potentials - Mattie/Tillie/Tilda

Our Matilda (Tildy/Tilda/Tilds) just turned 6. When she was a baby in the baby groups circuit I never met any. There is one other in her infant school at the moment. I still love her name
and it gets a lot of compliments. People say she suits it, she looks and acts quite a lot like the girl who played Matilda in the 90s film adaptation.
