Middle name for Penelope Richardson

We can't decide on a middle name for Penelope Richardson. I think keeping it short to balance out the two longer names would sound the best. I really like "Rae" or "Rose", but don't know whether it goes with our surname.

I think Rose is one of those middle names that adds to almost anything.

Agree with one syllable given the multi-syllable first and last names.

Both are good but like Rose best!

Anne.

Interesting suggestions! Anne was my Mum's middle name. And Mary is my mother-in-laws name

Fabulous name! I thought of Rose too - needs to be 1 syllable
Rose

First thought was Jane. Then Even shortened Penny Jane works well.

Something short anyway-

Jane
Eliza
Diana
Alice
Edith

There is also the ubiquitous Grace but it actually works really well with your first and second name!

makeminealargeoneagain · 10/11/2023 12:10

I'd avoid a middle name starting with R. Other single syllable names that may work -

Grace
Maeve
Quinn
Niamh
Eve
Claire
Fern
Kate

Tbh, I wouldn’t chose Rose as Rose/Grace/May have been done to death as filler middle names for girls. All girls have them. They’re the equivalent of Louise or Jane. Sooooo overused.

Kate works really well.

pinkyredrose · 10/11/2023 12:19

She doesn't have to have a middle name

TwiddlingMyToes · 10/11/2023 12:23

Weirdly, the first name that popped into my head was Constance. No idea why as I have never given that name much thought either way!

I wouldn't go with Anne as it:s bit dull (my own middle name is Anne, but it's very much a filler). Penelope Eve is also a bit of a mouthful I think because of the 2 vowel.sounds.

Kate is nice, as pp suggested.

roarrfeckingroar · 10/11/2023 12:26

Rose or Kate

MetaverseMavis · 10/11/2023 12:27

I came on to suggest Joy, the name that sprang to mind as I saw her name, only to find someone else had suggested it first

Pastaf0rbreakfast · 10/11/2023 12:33

I’m currently pregnant and had this baby been a girl her name would have been Penelope Alice.

As it happens it’s a boy and we’ve already used all our top boys names 🤦‍♀️

Cantfindutrogestan · 10/11/2023 12:34

Joyce popped into my head

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 10/11/2023 12:35

Edith or Edie

supernoodletrain · 10/11/2023 12:37

Penelope Joy
Penelope Kate
Penelope Zoe
Penelope Sophia
Penelope Mia
Penelope Grace
Penelope Ivy

Sauvignonblanket · 10/11/2023 12:38

I like Jane - the n echoes the n in Penelope. Or Jean, Joan or June with the same thinking

MerryChristmasToYou · 10/11/2023 12:39

Not Rose, Rae, Jane, Anne, May or Grace. They're filler middle names.
Penny Richardson is OK.

It really bugs me when people say this. My Nanna was called Rose and my MIL was called Jane. Those were their names and the ones we'd use as honorifics if we have a daughter. They're not fillers to us.

OP, middle slots are normally for family names. Are there any in your family history that you particularly like, or a family member you'd like to honour?
