To go with our trendy favourite or a more classic choice?

We just can’t decide and this is our final list, we don’t have much time left:

Chloe
Sophie
Rosalind
Phoebe
Emily
Ruby
Everly

Everly or Everlee is our favourite right now. It doesn’t fit my usual style, but I love the sound and Everlee looks more like Ever + Lee than surname to me.

Not sure if we should go with what our heart tells us to or a more classic name.

I’d say go with your favourite. I think you’ll regret it if you don’t.

SkaneTos · 10/11/2023 10:23

Your favourite is your favourite for a reason.

Wallabyone · 10/11/2023 10:24

You should go with what you like.

My favourite from your list is Ruby. I do think Everly is a lot like Beverley, but I know it's fairly popular now.

boudiccathecat · 10/11/2023 10:26

How about Beverly it’s outside the top 100 but a classic.

ZenNudist · 10/11/2023 10:29

I don't like it. Not a name I've ever heard of. Rosalind is nice and also more current

Everlee is terrible. Everley seems a more natural spelling. Everly looks strange.

Don't land her having to spell her name to everyone. Just chose one of your perfectly lovely list.

Ivyy · 10/11/2023 10:33

I've seen it spelled Everleigh before, it's one of those names that sound nice when you say it, but look a bit strange in writing to me.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/11/2023 10:43

Everly is a gorgeous name. The rest are meh.

itsmyp4rty · 10/11/2023 10:48

I'd go with Everly or Everleigh over Everlee definitely - Everlee is awful IMO. I'd probably go with Emily over those though as it sounds very similar but there's no issues with how to spell it. Beverly is hideous IMO and reminds me of the mother in The Goldbergs.

Justhereforaibu1 · 10/11/2023 10:49

I like Rosalind and Ruby from your list. Everlee is dreadful, other spellings not so bad

WaltzingWaters · 10/11/2023 10:51

Everly is lovely.

SeptemberTime · 10/11/2023 10:53

Classic

MerryChristmasToYou · 10/11/2023 10:54

Everly is going to be yet another Evie and will be correcting people that she's not Evelyn. Everlee and Everleigh are dreadful.

WonderingAboutBabies · 10/11/2023 10:56

My friends have a daughter called Everly, Evie for short. Lovely name :)

trippytriangles · 10/11/2023 10:56

Everly doesn't look like a surname to me with that spelling. If you like it go for it or you'll always wish you had.

TomatoSandwiches · 10/11/2023 10:56

Usually I would advise classic first name favourite middle name, however Everly isn't so out there that a classic would be more suitable.

trippytriangles · 10/11/2023 10:59

Everlee spelling look a bit old school American to me.

Beamur · 10/11/2023 11:00

Everly is nice. No biggie to have to spell your name (mine is a name with 2 spellings, I have survived having to tell people which one it is). The other spellings Leigh/lee I don't like.
Of your trad names - I like Ruby, Emily and Sophie/Sophia - all classic and lovely names. Rosalind is nice especially if you shortened to Rosa (not Rosie) for a different vibe.
Phoebe and Chloe are a bit meh

BankruptedByBirds · 10/11/2023 11:01

However you spell Everley she will spend the rest of her life correcting people who thought she said Emily and spelling it out over the phone. As a person with an unusual, often confused and misspelled name myself, I would advise everyone to just pick a well known 'normal' name.

ginasevern · 10/11/2023 11:09

Rosalind.

TheBirdintheCave · 10/11/2023 11:19

From your list I'd choose Rosalind.

I'm really not a fan of Everly as, however you spell it, it's still a surname.

Vexxa · 10/11/2023 11:57

I love Rosalind but DH wasn't keen. Beautiful name. But I think you should go with what your heart is telling you.

BoleynMemories13 · 10/11/2023 12:42

Whilst I prefer classic names, I always say go with your heart.

However, I would strongly advise Everly over Everlee. Everlee looks quite trashy in comparison. If you're torn between this name or classic, I'd at least go for a more classic looking rounded spelling (personally).

Could Evelyn (pronounced Eh-ver-lyn) be a compromise though? A more classic name with a very similar sound to Everly.

Ultimately though, if your heart says Everly I think you'll regret it if you don't use it.

LilyLemonade · 10/11/2023 17:27

Everly / -lee will date very strongly - so it really depends if this bothers you. I’d advise pairing it with one of the more classic names as a middle.

WellWellSaidTheRockingChair · 10/11/2023 17:54

Rosalind or everly

Moveoverdarlin · 10/11/2023 17:56

I like Chloe and Sophie. Sorry I think Everlee is bloody awful.
