Penny or Pearl?

In agony over choosing a name for my second DD! We've gone though thousands of possibilities and have whittled it down to two options, both with the middle name Rae.

Penny Rae
Pearl Rae

Which would you choose?!

Pearl.

Please don’t call her Penny. You’ll be subjecting her to a lifetime of idiots insisting that her name is actually Penelope and calling her variations of tuppence, five pence, ten pence etc as she gets taller (and God help her if she puts a few pounds on over Christmas), Penny Lane, Penny Lover (the Lionel Richie song), Penelope Pitstop (I’m not even a Penelope), bad Penny, Pennies from Heaven, Pennywise the killer clown, Penny Dreadful, and a million other ‘gags’ which I’ve heard a billion times. Oh, and any fans of the Big Bang Theory will really enjoy knocking on her desk etc and saying her name three times, thinking that they are hysterical. And you would think that most of these would be generational and that she’ll never hear them. I can guarantee you that random adults will still comment, thinking that they’re coming up with something she hasn’t heard before. It is beyond tedious and people tend to get really offended when you sigh and roll your eyes because you just can’t be bothered to pretend to think they’re a comedy genius.

I’m not a massive fan of Pearl either. Or of Rae as a middle name. I think it’s always a good idea to give a child a name that won’t embarrass them if they decide to be a lawyer or a doctor.

Beautiful names - you can’t go wrong with any of them. Lucy is my favourite (dd’s name). Ruby is my second favourite with Cora close third! (Nova is not to my taste.)And I love Rae as the middle name.
