Family don't like baby's name

Expecting baby boy in 3 weeks and we can't get a name, the only name me and hubby have agreed on is Casey, but every single person I tell screws up there face and say naw I don't like that it's a girl's name,
My other kids are Jake, Annabelle and Jamie.
I don't want to call him it if people are going to make fun of the name.

I love it op. As it happens every one and their dog said something about my DD's name. I stuck with it and 10 years later still bloody love it.

It’s a boys name, there used to be a TV series called Casey Jones about a railroad engineer, I think Johnny Cash sang the song as well. I like the name.

The only Casey’s I know are boys. But also if you and your partner like it, it’s no one else's business! Some people in my family didn’t like my daughters name, I didn’t give a shite!

I love Casey as a boys name but that’s probably because it’s my older brother’s name. He wasn’t bullied for it and no one has ever told him that it is strictly a girls name. Call your bubba whatever the hell you want.

Yes they are but they're not really a similar vibe to her other children's names. I think that's where her family are coming from. A pp who was ridiculed for suggesting Joshua was making the same point.

But they do become whatever name they end up with so it doesn't matter too much!

Casey is the boy variant to me, Kacey for girls. Nothing wrong with a gender neutral name. Go with what you like.

It can be either a girl’s name or a boy’s.
Call your child the name you like, it’s not like you’ve chosen something stupid like Arse or Flanflinger or Sexdungeon.
If you’re relatives don’t like it they’re free to have their own kinds and name them as they choose!

I think it's fine for a boy or a girl, a bit like Ashley.

I also like Cary (as in Cary Grant) which has a similar sound.

Boys name to me and it's lovely. It really doesn't matter what others think. I'd have loved a Boy Jesse! People hated it but I don't care.

Kasey is a girls name.

I second the poster who said only share the name when your baby is born. Then you will see which name 'suits' your baby best. It's only you and your partner who need to. Be happy with the name !

I only know female Caseys - not sure if it works for a boy, but your baby, your choice.

Also, no one is ever bullied because of their name. Bullying is nothing to do with traits of the person being bullied.

Erm I don't think that's accurate. I was bullied about my name. Lots of kids are.

Its not a girls name . My grandson has it .and it does not matter what anyone else thinks, its your choice. Plus they are rude to even say they dont like it

I know it's unisex but it's like calling your baby boy Hillary, kim, Tracey or Shirley.

Personally, I love the name Casey for a boy. I wouldn’t worry what other people think, if you love it go for it!

I see it as a unisex name. Call your child what you like, give it a couple of months and they won’t think of her as anything but Casey.

The only boy Casey I've heard of is the tattooed influencer Sammi's son. I love her though so i back her choices.
