Thanks in advance for any help you can give. :)

Option 1

MaggieFS · 23/10/2023 15:26

As I read it,'Kay-len' came to mind first, and then I thought it might be Cal en

I know 1 of each with slightly different spelling
Callan pronounced c - allan
And Kalan - K-lan

Mrsjayy · 23/10/2023 15:27

Kaylen although I'm not English so I'd pronounce it Kaylin !

Whataretheodds · 23/10/2023 15:27

I don't know the name - I assumed Kay-len but I'd ask and pronounce it as the holder told me it was pronounced.

DuploTrain · 23/10/2023 15:28

I would assume it sounded like Caleb (Kay-Leb).

HipHipWhoRay · 23/10/2023 15:28

My daughter has a Calen in her class (London), and pronounced like 1.

Elzibells · 23/10/2023 15:29

1

OzziePopPop · 23/10/2023 15:32

2, I’m from the South West with a generic ‘Southern’ accent

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 23/10/2023 15:34

Option 2 - I'm from the South coast.

Never would imagine it would be pronounced Kay- en rather than kal-en

Bluedabadeeba · 23/10/2023 15:50

This is really helpful! Thanks all!!

It wouldn't have occurred to me that it could be pronounced KAY-len until I YouTubed it and Canadian/US English automated voices pronounced it that way.

Maybe it would be a regional thing, people from South ish seem to be saying Cal-en how I would (Midlands).

Thanks again folks!

I would pronounce it like Galen or (Van) Halen, aka KAY-len

SoupDragon · 23/10/2023 15:53

1 (London if it matters!)

for me, it would need 2 Ls to be Cal en

Lightningrain · 23/10/2023 15:54

I’d assume like Caleb so 1. If it were double l I’d expect the second pronunciation.

Yes, I agree with this. To be the second pronunciation it needs to LLs

YokoOnosBigHat · 23/10/2023 15:57

Option two. I might be confused if I didn't know one though, I remember being surprised by the name when I first saw it and not being sure now to pronounce it. It was described to me as "like Calum, but with an n".

TheCoffeeMrsAndMama · 23/10/2023 15:57

I'd pronounce it as Kay-len

DaftQuestionForToday · 23/10/2023 15:57

Bluedabadeeba · 23/10/2023 15:25

Option 1: Kay-len

Option 2: Cal-en

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. :)

2, but easy to remember if told its Kay-len (but ud wonder why you didn't just spell it that way, unless any obvious international influence

YourNameGoesHere · 23/10/2023 15:57

Kaylen here too.

If you want Calen then it needs two 'l's but then I'd also caution you to be prepared to have it pronounced call-en.

Moveoverdarlin · 23/10/2023 15:58

I would pronounce it like Calum but with an n. It will always need to be spelt out. People won’t know if it’s a C or K.

PrinceHaz · 23/10/2023 15:58

1

DuploTrain · 23/10/2023 16:01

If you want it like option 2 I would spell Callan (like the surname).

SplendidUtterly · 23/10/2023 16:01

Cal - un.
