Final two names. It’ll either be:

Iris Joy, or
Joy Iris

What do you think?

Virtue names are quite a risk. What if she is a negative personality type?

Iris - Joy can be a huge pain anytime you are upset etc… “Come on Joy, you are meant to be happy, where’s the Joy now”

Plus Irises are beautiful flowers and a lovely name.

Iris Joy flows way better, though I prefer Joy as a name. I knew a very cool one in her 20s a few years ago.

Joy Iris for me. I think it flies better and is less common. Iris Joy will merge into Irisjoy, which sounds like a wholly other word or like Irish Joy knew an Iris who was often called Irish by mistake.

Exactly my concern!

My daughter has Joy as her middle name. I love it!

I love the name Iris.

Joy is nice as a middle name but I'm not keen as a stand alone first name. I had an Aunt Joy but she was Joyce.

Definitely Iris Joy.

Joy because of how common Iris is.

I think iris joy is nicer. Iris has become very popular name for rainbow babies as it means rainbow so depends whether that bothers you.

Iris is my preferred choice, i knew a Joy though
what about Ivy?

Iris - popular but v nice

Who wants to be saddled the pressure to be a cheery human all the time? You’d never do it do a bloke. Also the only joy I knew was a sourpuss.

Iris has been massively popular for ages

It’s not especially a name for babies after a previous loss

@theduchessofspork im aware it’s been popular for ages and I didn’t say it was especially a name for babies after a loss. Unsure how you managed to get that from my comment.

Neither - the only women I know named Joy and Iris are in their 50s/60s. I know Iris is becoming more popular again but still not a fan - sounds a bit like Arse where we are!

I love Iris (my DD was nearly one). Not as keen on Joy so I would chose Iris Joy.

Joy because of how common Iris is.

Looks to be about 70 something in the top 100, depending on which list you use. Is that common?

Iris is a beautiful name.
As is Joy but sadly I weirdly know a number of Joys who had terribly sad lives. Including my nan who had an awfully sad end.
