Final two names. It’ll either be:

Iris Joy, or
Joy Iris

What do you think?

Virtue names are quite a risk. What if she is a negative personality type?

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 21/10/2023 09:44

Iris - Joy can be a huge pain anytime you are upset etc… “Come on Joy, you are meant to be happy, where’s the Joy now”

Plus Irises are beautiful flowers and a lovely name.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 21/10/2023 09:45

Iris Joy flows way better, though I prefer Joy as a name. I knew a very cool one in her 20s a few years ago.

tizalinatuna · 21/10/2023 09:47

Joy Iris for me. I think it flies better and is less common. Iris Joy will merge into Irisjoy, which sounds like a wholly other word or like Irish Joy knew an Iris who was often called Irish by mistake.

Exactly my concern!

Joy! I might be biased because I have one.

My daughter has Joy as her middle name. I love it!

BoleynMemories13 · 21/10/2023 11:00

I love the name Iris.

Joy is nice as a middle name but I'm not keen as a stand alone first name. I had an Aunt Joy but she was Joyce.

Definitely Iris Joy.

LambMomo · 21/10/2023 11:14

Joy because of how common Iris is.

PickledScrump · 21/10/2023 11:15

I think iris joy is nicer. Iris has become very popular name for rainbow babies as it means rainbow so depends whether that bothers you.

MyCircumference · 21/10/2023 11:16

Iris is my preferred choice, i knew a Joy though
what about Ivy?

theduchessofspork · 21/10/2023 11:19

Iris - popular but v nice

Who wants to be saddled the pressure to be a cheery human all the time? You’d never do it do a bloke. Also the only joy I knew was a sourpuss.

Iris has been massively popular for ages

It’s not especially a name for babies after a previous loss

PickledScrump · 21/10/2023 11:31

@theduchessofspork im aware it’s been popular for ages and I didn’t say it was especially a name for babies after a loss. Unsure how you managed to get that from my comment.

SneezyEvie · 21/10/2023 12:06

Iris Joy has a better flow for me.

MaloneMeadow · 21/10/2023 12:12

Neither - the only women I know named Joy and Iris are in their 50s/60s. I know Iris is becoming more popular again but still not a fan - sounds a bit like Arse where we are!

Verite1 · 21/10/2023 12:16

I love Iris (my DD was nearly one). Not as keen on Joy so I would chose Iris Joy.

Threelionsandalioness · 21/10/2023 12:16

Iris joy is a lovely name

DuchessOfSausage · 21/10/2023 14:53

Iris.

BabyTime2 · 21/10/2023 16:52

LambMomo · 21/10/2023 11:14

Joy because of how common Iris is.

Looks to be about 70 something in the top 100, depending on which list you use. Is that common?

Confused

I like just Iris on its own. I think it's a beautiful name.

smilesup · 22/10/2023 02:14

Iris is a beautiful name.
As is Joy but sadly I weirdly know a number of Joys who had terribly sad lives. Including my nan who had an awfully sad end.
