Serendipity, Tarquin and Serviette

Cumbrianlife · 14/10/2023 04:31

2 DS have our late DF's names
DD has a paternal cousin's. MIL wanted her named after her. I refused as it's awful but she couldn't complain because it was still a traditional family name.

Summermeadowflowers · 14/10/2023 04:40

DS has a good old welsh middle name!

DDs is Olivia. We didn’t know we were having a girl and only decided on her first name for definite when I was sitting holding her in hospital. I remember suggesting various middle names all of which DH pulled a face at, then I suggested Olivia and he smiled, so there it was!

CurlewKate · 14/10/2023 04:44

Mine are real. Both slightly unusual. I don't mind being outed!

@StopVotingToryYouTwats I'm 99.9% certain some of the answers are made up.

DS1s middle names are Ronald Thomas after 2 of his Great-Grandads.

DS2s is James. After DS1s godfather.

D'ya think? 😂

Mouk · 14/10/2023 09:32

DD - her middles names are after her Grandmothers. Maternal grandmother died while I was pregnant with my daughter.

DS - same, but after his grandfathers.

Cas112 · 14/10/2023 09:41

Robert

Nepopcorn · 14/10/2023 09:44

Fraser, after my brother who we lost the year before I fell pregnant with DS. I love it and look forward to telling him about where his name came from when he’s old enough!

sawnotseen · 14/10/2023 11:42

DD- Lilly Angel - after my beloved late Nan (exH also want to add 'snowflake' as it was snowing when she was born, but I convinced him otherwise.
DS- Red which was my exH choice for his first name but I vetoed it as our surname also starts with an R and I was concerned that he might have the speech condition that Johnathan Ross has, where he pronounces R as W.
There's Also lots of red hair in both our families.
He's an adult now and has neither.

sawnotseen · 14/10/2023 11:46

PS my exH is Canadian and had a fondness for Red Adair as a child (I'd never heard of him until I met my ex) over 30 yrs ago

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2023 11:50

Mine have classic middle names that I love the long forms of but not the diminutives. I used them as middle names because that way they can't be shortened.

Hill1991 · 14/10/2023 11:51

My ds Samuel after my brother, dad, grandad and great grandad and so on

shakeitoffsis · 14/10/2023 11:52

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 14/10/2023 11:55

James and Clementine, DS has a mental first name so went safe and DD has a now v popular first name

Wailywailywaily · 14/10/2023 11:56

IDidntKnowMyOwnStrength · 14/10/2023 22:47

I don't have a middle name and neither do my children, l just think it's a waste of time.

FayCarew · 15/10/2023 08:09

@IDidntKnowMyOwnStrength , same here, unless the surname is a common one.

MargotBamborough · 15/10/2023 08:28

I have the same middle name as four generations of my female ancestors and have just passed it on to my daughter. I love it and don't think it's pointless at all.

KeeefBurtain · 15/10/2023 12:19

ExH chose middle names as I picked their first.

DD’s is Veronica after his late mum
ds’s is Logan after wolverine

SallyWD · 15/10/2023 12:30

I'm not going to say but DD's middle name is my mum's name.
My son's middle name is from my DH's country and relates to the day he was born.

Soubriquet · 15/10/2023 12:32

Jayne for dd. It’s my middle name
Willis for ds. It’s dh’s middle name
