Impressions of the name Kaylin for a girl?

In these past few weeks new names are starting to come to me all of the time. I guess now that things are coming closer my mind wants to go through all of the possible choices.

Kaylin isn't completely new, I liked it when I was a teen, but haven't thought about it in ages. I do think it's pretty.

Is Hazel Kaylin too much of a clash in styles? Which spelling of Kaylin do you prefer?

OP posts:

I've never heard of it - does it have the same roots as Kayleigh?

It's has quite a pretty sound to it. I don't know about spelling as I don't know the name but your spelling seems logical.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2023 00:16

We used to take kaolin when we were sick as children. That's what it reminded me of.

Changethetoner · 02/10/2023 00:19

Caelan
Cailin

SleepingStandingUp · 02/10/2023 00:21

I really dislike the two names together, it reminds me of food. Like hazel(nut) praline or something.

But Kaylin is fine, perhaps a lot of initial "no, lin not leigh" but it sounds pretty

And morphine
Disgusting medicine for when you have the trots

JamSandle · 02/10/2023 00:55

I prefer Kayleigh or Caitlin.

RestingMurderousFace · 02/10/2023 01:00

And Morphine.

SemperIdem · 02/10/2023 01:08

Caitlin or any variation is fine.

The t is important though.

Kaylin is awful.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/10/2023 01:09

Caitlyn is nice and underused.

bleuclair · 02/10/2023 01:11

Sounds medicinal or like you dropped the 't' in Caitlin.

Hazel Kaye
Hazel Katherine
Hayley Catriona
Kate Hazel

Kaylin isn't a proper name (yes I know names evolve blah blah) it's two syllables put together and it doesn't look or sound great. Caitlin is the name it's been bastardised from which is actually a nice name.

ThePoshUns · 02/10/2023 06:21

Awful. Will spend their life being asked if their middle name is Morphine

cariadlet · 02/10/2023 06:25

Kaylin sounds made up.

Another vote for Caitlin. I think it's a pretty name and it also has the advantage of being unusual without being either dated or whacky.

This.
It's that horrid pink medicine. So no.

Lamelie · 02/10/2023 07:16

Caitlin is lovely

MorvernBlack · 02/10/2023 07:24

The only Kailin I know is a boy. His parents are Gaelic speakers, so I had assumed it was a Gaelic name.

MorvernBlack · 02/10/2023 07:26

Hadn't made the link with Kaolin et morph though, childhood memories there!

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/10/2023 07:39

Kaolin

RabbitsRock · 02/10/2023 07:46

Sorry OP I immediately thought of a medicine too! Hazel is lovely though & quite unusual.

CountessKathleen · 02/10/2023 07:50

It’s an anglicised version of the Irish name Caoilfhionn, nothing to do with the bastardised version of Caitlín pronounced Kate-Lynne.

OP, the only times I’ve come across it anglicised as Caelan, it’s been used for a boy. There’s a well-known Irish rugby player called Caelan Doris.

Seaitoverthere · 02/10/2023 07:57

it’s a medicine to me and not a pleasant one.

cariadlet · 02/10/2023 08:08

I've come acriss Caelan for a boy a couple of times and like it.

Kaylin, not so much.

cushioncovers · 02/10/2023 08:09

Nope sorry.

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 02/10/2023 10:11

I really dislike Kaylin. It has a bit of an American deep south trailer park vibe. Hazel is lovely, but not with Kaylin.
