What a horrid sneering thread. No matter what you think of these names the kids didn’t choose them.

Also a lot of ‘old wives tales’ going on here……

Old wives tales? Where!?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/09/2023 21:52

Precious, Blessing and Chardonnay really aren't that unusual. Not in the area where I work anyway .

LonelyBones · 29/09/2023 21:54

I met the cutest little boy called Xerxes.

Glarptip · 29/09/2023 21:55

There's no "most unique."

There's unique and not unique.

Babygirl888 · 29/09/2023 21:56

I went to college with a girl called Sensimilla. Her dad was a real old school rastafarian. We also had a customer with a daughter called Beautelle.

Lots of Indigenous families near me. They have some beautiful names, often interspersed with very traditional names from their grandparents (which, sadly, was probably an English name given to them by the residential schools).

E.g Morningstar Jean, RunningBear Walter.

child in my kid’s after school club years ago-

Loki Sutcliffe

I didn’t meet them.

also have met a Mungo. my sister claims Fletcher and Sherlock

Mungo is an old name. Used in Scotland due to St Mungo - patron Saint of Glasgow. Great name.

Similar to Murdo- which I adore & wish I'd used with one of my boys.

Bullshit. It’s a tired old racist trope, have a look at this link so you can see why it’s not appropriate to keep this stupid urban legend going.

Is This Child's Name for Real?

The tale of a mother who names her child 'Le-a,' which she insists be pronounced 'Ledasha.'
