I really like it but is it to “old”. For reference will be an only child so no other names to go with…

I like it, reminds me of Cecilia Ahern. I think it would work best with a two-syllable surname eg. Cecilia Johnson has a better ring to it than Cecilia Jones IMO.

LauderSyme · 27/09/2023 19:12

Cecilia is lovely, it has such a pretty ring to it, and is timeless I think. It's definitely not too old in this new age of little Ediths and Mauds.

heldinadream · 27/09/2023 19:14

Lovely choice. 💗

Ellmau · 27/09/2023 19:14

It's a lovely classic name. It's not dated because it was never that popular.

cherryassam · 27/09/2023 19:15

I think it’s lovely. I also like Cecily.

dressedforcomfort · 27/09/2023 19:16

I like it. Although prefer Celia - simpler to my ears....

Onemoretimeok · 27/09/2023 19:18

Cecelia Ya breaking my heart

Jeelypieces20storeys · 27/09/2023 19:24

Cute but also grown-up! Different without being weird. I like it a lot!

Gillstuck · 27/09/2023 19:26

Your shaking my confidence daily

Blingstar · 27/09/2023 19:29

Prefer Celia or Cecily otherwise she's going to get that song all her life.

peaceinourtime · 28/09/2023 13:04

It’s nice but prefer Celia.

Cressie2 · 28/09/2023 21:07

Love it. “CC” as a nickname.

Prefer Celia or Cecily otherwise she's going to get that song all her life.

This generation no.

My DN has never, ever had it referred to and she is 12. I am 50 and the song was never on my radar even, my parents yes.

Love it OP. It is lovely in many languages too.
Cecilia is the patron saint of music.

DivingForLove · 28/09/2023 21:18

Love it - but I do listen to the song regularly so I’m biased 😄

MotherOfCatBoy · 28/09/2023 21:23

Love Cecelia, beautiful name.
The saints day is in December - DS school use it for their Christmas concert - she is patron of music as PP said
Also love the song!

SkaneTos · 28/09/2023 21:27

It's a lovely and classic name! Very pretty.

The song didn't even cross my mind until someone here mentioned it.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 29/09/2023 01:59

Celia is nice.

MargotBamborough · 29/09/2023 11:30

Lovely name.

TheMurderousGoose · 29/09/2023 11:59

I immediately think of the song. And it's quite an annoying song,

Cecilia is fine but not really to my taste. I find it a bit prim. Cece is a very cute nickname though. Being the patron saint of music she's been very well-represented in art through the centuries, which might be fun for your daughter if you're a museums and galleries visiting type of family.

Tinysoxxx · 29/09/2023 13:11

It’s difficult once you’ve got the song in your head to say the name without saying it as it’s sung. Cecilia is a feisty girl if you listen to the lyrics.
I think if you’re ok with the song lyrics and the occasional person trying not to say her name like the song, then go for it. Less and less people are going to remember the song as she grows up.

PurpleChrayne · 29/09/2023 13:11

Gorgeous name.

JamSandle · 29/09/2023 13:20

I think its beautiful as is the nickname for it, CeCe.

Justalittlebitblondie · 29/09/2023 17:12

Thank you all for the feedback - I think we will go for it for a girl…. Now just to settle on a boys name - we had one picked out but a new bloke has started at work called it who is a complete kn*b so it has rather put me off…
