Cora or Claudia?

Just that really - I quite like both, and expecting DD2 in December! DD1 is Anna.

(The meaning of Claudia doesn't bother me at all, so wouldn't consider that a factor!)

Claudia.

Gnomegnomegnome · 21/09/2023 22:59

Claudia! It’s elegant and beautiful.

Cora is everything but elegant and beautiful.

Whataretheodds · 21/09/2023 23:08

I prefer Cora

Nothing wrong with Claudia, though.

Trippinthelightfantastic · 21/09/2023 23:08

Coralie shortened to Cora

Beamur · 21/09/2023 23:09

Claudia

DuchessOfSausage · 21/09/2023 23:46

Claudia. Definitely not Coralie.

roastytoastysnowballs · 22/09/2023 00:01

Claudia

My Allegra was nearly Claudia

My never gonna happen next daughter will be Claudia

Azaleah · 22/09/2023 00:34

I prefer Cora. Short and sweet like Anna. I live in Brazil where a sweet old lady who was a famous poet and cook chose the pen name of Cora Coralina. Her real name was Anna Lins dos Guimarães Peixoto Bretas.💖

I agree with the above.

As long as you don't mind the meaning of Claudia, go with that.

I like Anna and Claudia together, it's an interesting pairing, both have an international feel and both names are classic in different ways. Cora doesn't have the same feel at all.

Claudia

MissedItByThisMuch · 22/09/2023 02:34

Claudia. I’ve always found Cora a bit weak sounding.

user1492757084 · 22/09/2023 02:42

Cora reminds me of a crow.
Claudia, Claudine and Claudette are gorgeous with Anna.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 22/09/2023 02:50

I much prefer Cora and think it goes very well with Anna, both short and sweet. I’m not a fan of Claudia at all it sounds like an old lady’s name to me and quite harsh sounding. Nothing wrong with it if you like it its just not my taste.

AnnaTK · 22/09/2023 08:23

Love Cora! It’s just a little different and more modern!

Fifthtimelucky · 22/09/2023 08:36

I much prefer Claudia,

Personally I prefer the "clawed" pronunciation to the "cloud" one, but even though I like both versions it would annoy me if people used the wrong one.

theduchessofspork · 22/09/2023 11:52

Claudia - I like it better but also works better with Anna

The Cloud pronunciation would be v unusual in the UK though?

PickledScrump · 22/09/2023 12:09

Claudia is a great name for a lobster, but otherwise not a nice sounding name.

Cora is much better.

Fifthtimelucky · 22/09/2023 17:53

@theduchessofspork you may well be right.

The only Claudia I have ever known personally used the Cloud pronunciation but I don't really know how common version is.

SneezyEvie · 22/09/2023 23:01

Cora is my favourite but I think Claudia works better with Anna.

Azaleah · 23/09/2023 14:38

I understand that Anna is her first daughter, not a first or middle name for her second daughter.

Mrburnshound · 23/09/2023 18:17

Im in london and hear exclusively cloud but dont think ive heard on a fully english child. Outside of london would be more clawd i think

Cora/coralie is nice but getting VERY popular round my way

Tamsyn143 · 23/09/2023 18:20

My daughter is called Cora Claudia (middle name). We loved both x

YaWeeFurryBastard · 23/09/2023 18:21

Cora is lovely, timeless and elegant IMO.

I don’t like Claudia at all unless on someone not from the UK, I think it sounds pretentious and clunky on a British girl sorry!

Azaleah · 23/09/2023 18:28

In Brazil, it's pronounced Cloud(ia). Cora is pronounced exactly the same as in English. Another advantage, same spelling wherever she goes!
