I really like Agnes and find it quite soft sounding although I can see I'm in the minority! Dorothy is nice but I prefer Dorothea.

BrokenMantra · 28/08/2023 16:10

I like Agatha but not so keen on Agnes as find it difficult to say. Like Dorothy but it doesn't go very well with Delilah. Quite like Jemima but is also a bit rhymey.

Agnes, nickname Nessie would be my choice of those. I'm not keen on Aggie as a nickname even though I know a lovely one. Prefer Dorothea to Dorothy but the latter is nice too. I'm not keen on Agatha.

My thoughts exactly

SequinsandStiIettos · 28/08/2023 16:17

Agape?

Carouselfish · 28/08/2023 16:25

Oh I love Dorothy and Agatha! I thought about them both first dd2 but went with Dora.
Probably like Agatha a bit more I think. I like Dolores too.

TiramisuTastesDreamy · 28/08/2023 16:27

Sorry - they all sound really fogey and old lady ish - with the exception of Jemima

Labralion · 28/08/2023 16:29

My mother was an Agnes and hated it. Never forgave my gran for calling her it!

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/08/2023 19:48

My favourite is Dorothy, but it’s possibly too matchy with Delilah.

Agnes and Agatha are also nice. I think I prefer Agnes.

Jemima and Tallulah sound quite similar to Delilah to my ear. I don’t mind Jemima as a name but I really dislike Tallulah.

Baharrt · 28/08/2023 20:23

Agnes and Dorothy. They're both good names.

Poor child. Absolutely awful, ugly names!!!!

eggandonion · 28/08/2023 23:16

I got lumbered with my name after assorted elderly old lady relatives. I had others called Evelyn and Matilda which are way better. The only name I diss on baby name threads is my own!

continentallentil · 29/08/2023 20:40

Agatha nn Aggie think

I like Agnes but it’s quite marmite

The alliteration of Dorothy and Delilah is too twee

And either Jemima or Talulah with Delilah is too rhymey and thus twee

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/08/2023 20:46

I think Agnes is lovely. It's not as fey as some of the older names that have become popular in recent years - it seems stronger and less twee

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 30/08/2023 07:40

Absolutely love all 3 but I think Agatha Nan Aggie would be my pick

Congrats!!
Jemima is pretty. I prefer Dorothea or Theodora to Dorothy.

What about Tabitha, Darcy, Cecilia?

caramacyears · 30/08/2023 09:24

Love Dorothy! Dorrie is a nickname that hasn't been mentioned yet for it. I am not too keen on the Ag sound of your other two choices. Delilah is a great name too

Dorrie is my mum's nickname. She always refused to be called Dot.

Enoughnowbrandon · 30/08/2023 09:27

I like either Agatha or Dorothy. Probably Agatha best. It's a great, strong name.

Tiespin · 30/08/2023 09:48

Dorothy.

LittleButtercup · 30/08/2023 21:35

Agnes and Dorothy are fabulous names- both were on my list for DD.

HahahaBoomBoom · 30/08/2023 22:05
