Jamima is best for me.
Dorothy could be a second name.
Nick names - Mimi, Jam or Dottie

Agnes is my favourite, followed by Agatha and Jemima. I do think the latter two sound better with Delilah.

As an aside, I'll never understand the "harsh" comments on names like these. Surely that just means... they're consonant-heavy? Contain plosive stops? What makes that ugly or "worse" than other names? I prefer to think of them as having substance! 🤷🏻‍♀️

RuthW · 28/08/2023 07:02

Dorothy is lovely. The others are awful in my opinion

kezziegrey · 28/08/2023 07:05

Love Dorothy and Agnes. My favourite though is Jemima. Not keen on Agatha.

TheIsleOfTheLost · 28/08/2023 07:15

Love Dorothy! Dorrie is a nickname that hasn't been mentioned yet for it. I am not too keen on the Ag sound of your other two choices. Delilah is a great name too

EinyLinky · 28/08/2023 08:05

Dorothy

Elevatemassivesalad · 28/08/2023 08:07

Agnes / Aggie is awful! Don't do this. We had an Agnes at our school. She was nicknamed Haggis.

Tallulah is the most common name that princesses give their VW campers. 😆 or cookapoos.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2023 08:09

I like all the names except Jemima.

Agnes is my favourite. It's probably a bit marmite but I love it

copperhat · 28/08/2023 08:11

I must have awful taste as people are commenting all these lovely names are so bad.

I know a 10yo Dorothy non Dot/Dotty and it's a lovely name! Agatha and Agnes are not harsh at all!

I love Delilah but I did have a cat called that and it reminds me of Tom Jone's song whereby no one seems to care he murders her!

Hazelnut9 · 28/08/2023 08:14

I like them all.

Dorothy is my favourite but I think it’s better to avoid using the same first letter as her sister.

I slightly prefer Agnes over Agatha. Aggie is cute.

Jemima and Talullah are too rhymey with Delilah.

eggandonion · 28/08/2023 08:16

Dot is bloody awful...you are so insignificant you have shrunk to nothing. In my personal experience.

CurlewKate · 28/08/2023 08:17

Edith has the same sort of vibe?

HoneyBalloon · 28/08/2023 08:20

Agnes and Agatha are lovely.

They do have a hard g in them but what follows is quite soft.

Dotty is cute

UncleBobsUncle · 28/08/2023 08:44

I think we have similar taste. DD is called one of those names. I also love Tabitha.

IHateWasps · 28/08/2023 09:07

Dorothy is nice.Jemima is ok. Tallulah is too cutesy. I have to agree with those who say that Agatha and Agnes are harsh unattractive named.

FayCarew · 28/08/2023 11:57

Fiddlesticks24 · 28/08/2023 00:06

Jemima is to rhymey with Delilah. Tallulah goes well, although personally I don't like it very much.

Dorothy is all round great. Agatha and Agnes I like but they're much more marmite and a lot of people will think they sound harsh.

This.
Tallulah probably 'goes' best, if you don't mind Lilah and Lulah as sisters

Delilah and Dorothy seem too different yet matchy
I don't like Dorothea or Senga.

IsadoraQuagmire · 28/08/2023 12:11

I love all your choices, but Tallulah is too similar in sound to Delilah. I always think of names in terms of what I'd like to be called myself, and I'd love to be named Dorothy or Agatha.

salamithumbs · 28/08/2023 12:18

I like Jemima the best, by a lot! It is a bit similar to Delilah in sound but I don't think that matters. I find Agatha and Agnes very harsh sounding, and Tallulah and Dorothy quite twee... but Dorothy is probably my second favourite.
Agree with pp that Edith might be a similar vibe, and I think that's a nice name!

eggandonion · 28/08/2023 12:25

Dotty is second in bloody awfulness to Dot. Call me either and I will never forget. Not in a good way 😉

Rosehiptea · 28/08/2023 12:28

I don't think these names have aged well

Araminta34 · 28/08/2023 12:29

I really don't like any of them. They are very old fashioned and don't sound nice. I like Tallulah and Jemima.

caringcarer · 28/08/2023 12:31

Dorothy, Agnes and Agatha are just awful, harsh sounding and outdated. Jemima is far nicer.

BCBird · 28/08/2023 12:34

None tbh. Angès the French way less harsh, A nyes, but no doubt it would be midpronounced. Can't you use one of these for a middle name?

CallistaFlockfart · 28/08/2023 12:35

All awful except Jemima, I really like that one.
Who wants to be Aggie (Saggy Aggy), Dottie and Tallulah Loo.
No, no and thrice no.
