Sean / nephew named this was constantly mispronounced by a lot of people as seen so they changed the spelling to shawn
Thomas/ love and love the Tommy nickname
Theo / just no
Henry / really like
Nathan/ like the Nate nickname
Zachary / do not like
James / prefer Jamie but Jamie not bad
Nicholas / Geeky little boy

KirstenBlest · 21/08/2023 18:58

Sean - I don't know a young Sean
Thomas - great for any age
Theo - not keen and it's overused. I dislike Theodore.
Henry - it's ok
Nathan - not keen
Zachary - too trendy. Zac is ok don't like Zach
James - love it as a first name
Nicholas - like it

Thomas or James depending on which sounds best with your surname.

crostini · 21/08/2023 18:58

Love Sean.
The rest are fine

ladygindiva · 21/08/2023 19:16

They're all decent names. Personally I love Henry. It's a real gentleman's name.

Mummy08m · 21/08/2023 19:17

100% James. Second choice Thomas

MirandaBlu · 21/08/2023 19:19

For what it's worth:

Sean - like the sound, but think of an Irish granddad, or a middle-aged middle-class "Irish American" fellow
Thomas - love it, feels strong and smart, but don't like Tom or Tommy
Theo - not a fan, plus it's very well used right now
Henry - like; picture someone very capable
Nathan - OK; prefer Nathaniel, quite like Nate (or Nat, but not in Scotland)
Zachary - OK; Zach/Zack reminds me of an edgy '90s Hollywood bad boy
James - love, popular but pretty timeless, could be any type of man
Nicholas - like a lot, think it's an underused (at the moment) classic. May feel a little "wet" for a small child, but there's always Nick/Nicky.

Beachywave · 21/08/2023 19:21

None of them are really to my taste - all slightly lame, bordering pretentious on some of them.

Zachary/Zac is the only one I like.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 21/08/2023 19:26

I've never said this on a baby name thread, but I love all of them

Neverseenbefore · 21/08/2023 19:29

They’re all nice except Zachary, which is over 20 years out of date, and isn’t as classic as the others.

shoopshoopdedoo · 21/08/2023 19:37

Sean - like
Thomas - really like
Theo - like, but very trendy at the mo
Henry - dislike, always think of it is a posh name rather than one that could suit someone of any background, even though I know it’s very popular
Nathan - dislike, my least favourite from your list
Zachary - like
James - love, my favourite boys name
Nicholas - really like

IWasFunBeforeMum · 21/08/2023 19:38

Loooooove Nicholas! I wanted it but DH didn't, grump.

ItLooksLikeChickenSoItMustBeChicken · 21/08/2023 19:38

I prefer the spelling of SHAUN
Apart from Theo, the others are all fairly popular. I like them all.

My six year old has a Zachary in her class

ilovelamp82 · 21/08/2023 19:39

Love James. The rest meh.

Georgiepud · 21/08/2023 19:42

I like them all, especially Theo and James.

patterpittercake · 21/08/2023 20:10

Sean - northern salt of the earth bloke
Thomas - classic, strong
Theo - love. Never met a bad Theo
Henry - love. Also classic.
Nathan - naughty boy name. As is Nate.
Zachary - American
James - From the 80s
Nicholas - safe

PeachyGreen · 21/08/2023 20:44

I really love Thomas (Tommy) and Henry. I like Theodore and Theo for short.

Not too keen on Zachary, Nicholas and Sean. James is a bit blah (neither here nor there)

😘

continentallentil · 21/08/2023 20:57

Zachary (Zach) or Nicholas (Nico)

The rest v overdone

Sean - someone about 6O / called after his grandad
Thomas - any guy anywhere -
Theo - someone born in the last 5 years
Henry - someone born in the last 20 years
Nathan - someone born in the last 2 years
Zachary - dude! I like it
James - see Thomas, but more often in a blazer
Nicholas - like it

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 21/08/2023 20:59

I like Theo, Thomas and Nicholas

Hate Sean (sorry😂)

WanderingWitches · 21/08/2023 21:07

They are all just a bit meh, to be honest.
I don't have any strong feelings either way about any of them.

jewellerysign · 21/08/2023 21:08

Sean- often pronounced SEEN
Thomas - very over done
Theo - Lovely
Henry- Second favourite
Nathan - OK
Zachary -a bit chavvy
James - boring
Nicholas - don't a fan

Miriam44 · 21/08/2023 23:08

I don’t really know but here’s my most ti least favorite from the list.

  1. Thomas: because you can call him Tom or Tommy.
  2. Henry because it’s love and understated
  3. James because it’s a timeless classic
  4. Sean because it’s underused
  5. Theo not really my style but it’s nice
  6. Zachary elegant but not my style
  7. Nathan too common and trendy
  8. Nicholas kinda boring
Housenoob · 21/08/2023 23:11

Love Theo. Don't like Zachary or Nathan although I do like Zack. The rest are just kinda meh, forgettable and bland.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 21/08/2023 23:33

I really like most of them.

Not a big fan of Sean or Theo but they're not awful in any way.

Theoldwoman · 22/08/2023 01:47

Thomas and Nicholas are my favourites.

Strong, kind and Funny.
