Kinvara or Kerensa?

Or any similar suggestions?

Doesn’t have to start with K, these are just two we like. I also liked Saskia but DH thinks she’ll be called Sassy for short.

@Thefamilywaster so sorry I just read you said the same 🤣. Great minds eh!

crumpet · 20/08/2023 11:14

Both names are good choices

greglet · 20/08/2023 11:14

Kerenza is quite nice.

I also really like Kenia/Keziah. Not a K name, but Zilpah has a similar vibe.

continentallentil · 20/08/2023 11:17

I knew a Kinvara.. she was v posh. Unless you are specifically naming after the place (middle name?) I wouldn’t. Karenza does sound like you’ve tried to jazz up Karen so unless there’s a specific reason I wouldn’t do that either. I like Saskia

I love Kerensa, am very partial to a Cornish name. Eseld and Morwenna are nice too. There was a Kerenza on Time Team back in the 90s.

Kinvara reminds me of the character from the 4th Strike book - Lethal White. She was the posh one married to the awful government minister who hired Strike.

Talista · 20/08/2023 11:21

What is it with the levels of parochial ignorance on the baby names board?!

Kerenza is lovely as is Saskia.

TheYadaYada · 20/08/2023 11:25

Both awful.

AHugeTinyMistake · 20/08/2023 11:30

I wear Kinvara running shoes. Anyone who runs will have an internal giggle at that name.

KirstenBlest · 20/08/2023 11:32

I thought of the running shoes too @AHugeTinyMistake ! I love Saucony running shoes

TheSimpleRidcully · 20/08/2023 11:48

Are you a Cormoran Strike fan?

Both Kinvara and Carenza are characters in the books.

If so can I recommend the name Robin? Best not go for Elizabeth, Irene or Sarah.

Kirrily

Keeva

mosiacmaker · 20/08/2023 13:48

I love Saskia, she’s more likely to be called Sas for short than Sassy I would have thought? If you don’t like either then just make Saskia happen - it’s not like it’s crazy long! My name is much longer and I go by the full version, so I wouldn’t let a fear of “Sassy” keep you from using it. Of your other two, Kerensa is my fav.

What's wrong with normal human names?

Festivemoose · 20/08/2023 18:40

I like Kerenza. I know a couple and went to school with one. It’s a lovely Cornish name.
You can always count on a mumsnet name thread for the ignorant to out themselves.

mathanxiety · 20/08/2023 18:42

I prefer Kerenza.

Saskia is great, and Sassy is a very sweet nickname.

mathanxiety · 20/08/2023 18:43

@frippu
Ain't that the truth...

mathanxiety · 20/08/2023 18:44

@Talista
Yes indeed.

Redpepperss · 20/08/2023 18:45

Karena? I like Saskia I don't think people will shorten it to sassy.

Its astoundingly offensive to be so rude about what are perfectly ordinary names, that just happen to originate from somewhere other than 5 minutes down the road from you.

LauderSyme · 20/08/2023 19:54

I like Kerensa but not Kinvara.

Would you say it with a soft "s" like snake or a "z" sound as in pp's? Both are lovely.

I like Cadenza and Saskia too.

Kinvara is in Galway, not an obvious name really nut it's a nice place.

Karensa is awful.

husbandcallsmepickle · 20/08/2023 20:22

I used to know a Kinvara, I like it as a name. Have heard of one other but had a look on Facebook and there are quite a few.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 20/08/2023 20:28

Both awful 😖
