They're all really nice. Slightly unusual (although May is a common middle name), and not too trendy.

GailHailStormy · 08/08/2023 11:09

Thank you! 😊

May.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 08/08/2023 11:19

Hazel.

OneStepOneStumble · 08/08/2023 11:20

LOVE Hazel and would have used it if it wasn't already in the family

GailHailStormy · 08/08/2023 11:22

Teeny tiny bit worried Hazel is faddy/won't age well?

crossstitchingnana · 08/08/2023 12:01

Hazel is retro, love it.

littlemousebigcheese · 08/08/2023 12:01

Hate may as a middle name, love it as a first name!
Not keen on hazel or Noelle

Purpleavocado · 08/08/2023 12:02

Noelle sounds Christmassy
Hazel is great!

Maireas · 08/08/2023 12:05

Hazel isn't faddy, it's reasonably neutral. Never been too fashionable, so it's unlikely to date, unlike Poppy, Maisie, Millie, Mollie etc.

soldedsweeties · 08/08/2023 12:33

The only real way to know that a name won't become trendy or a date badly is to choose a safe, plain, (boring?), classic like Thomas, Elizabeth, Anna etc.

You can't predict the future. Noelle or Hazel could become the new Luna or Amelia. If that's an unbearable then go for something like Catherine.

Mumofgirls2017 · 08/08/2023 12:37

Hazel- nice, assoc with brunette/ brown eyes
May- bland
Tessa- it’s ok
Noelle- not a fan

Ohyousillydivvy · 08/08/2023 12:44

Hazel definitely but here are some suggestions along a similar theme:
Heather
Aspen
Aster
Veronica
Azalea
Zinnia
Dahlia
Delphine
Iris
Bryony
Cicely
Clementine
Elowen

DuploTrain · 08/08/2023 12:46

I love Hazel
Prefer Tess to Tessa but both are a bit nicknamey
May is a bit nothingy
Noelle - very chrismassy

Theoldwoman · 08/08/2023 12:49

I love Tessa.

Topseyt123 · 08/08/2023 12:54

Hazel is the one for me. 😃

UltramarineViolet · 08/08/2023 12:56

Tessa is my favourite but I would just use Tess in day to day use

Hazel is lovely

May is bit dull and the overuse if May/Mai as a middle name and in dodgy double barrel names would put me off although being objective there is absolutely nothing wrong with it as a stand alone name

I'm not a fan of Noelle

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/08/2023 12:58

I love Hazel. I don't think it's likely to date I had a school friend, Hazel and both are 58

DuchessOfSausage · 08/08/2023 13:36

Hazel - ok
May - no
Tessa - ok. Tess is nice
Noelle - no

shoopshoopdedoo · 08/08/2023 13:55

Hazel and Tess are OK. Not keen on May or Noelle.

continentallentil · 08/08/2023 22:58

Tessa - v nice

May is nice but way overdone once you wrap in all the Mae/Maya/Mia/Maias

Noelle is ok as a middle name for a Christmas baby but does make me think of Muzak in shopping centres (NOEEEEELLE, NOEEEELLLLE)

I have a possibly irrational dislike of Hazel - it sounds spiky and woody to me.

Stella
Cecile
Laurel
Maria
Marianne

might be others

I agree with this completely!

Hazel is gorgeous - it would definitely be a contender if we were having a second daughter. Lovely nature/colour imagery, nice mellow feel but the spiky Z in the middle prevents it from being too soft or twee. From a teacher perspective it’s also a very ‘well behaved’ name - haven’t come across loads of Hazels but the several I have were all unfailingly lovely (and also very artistic/creative for some reason).

Tessa is very nice too and is definitely underused, but it does always leave me with a nagging feeling that it should be short for something (and I dislike Theresa/Therese).

May is perfectly inoffensive but feels a bit insipid and nothingy compared to the others - as a PP has said this is probably due to its huge overuse as a middle name.

Noelle is pretty as a potential middle name for a Christmas baby but otherwise I’m not hugely keen.

JustMaggie · 08/08/2023 23:32

I think May is my favourite, but then I am biased as my little sister is called May 🙂

LulooLemon · 08/08/2023 23:38
