Isn’t Cicely a kind of celery?

Cicely - a plant. Would burden child with mis-spelling.

Both are lovely names - smart, not too popular, great nick names.

Do you like the nick name Cec or Ciss?
Which sound goes better with the second name or surname?

There is also Sistine, Assisi, Celia, Cecilia and Cecile and Cecil.

Prefer Cicely (old Victorian variant) mainly because I don't like Ces as it reminds me of cesspit and cesspool.

Cicely. I love it! It’s a really old fashioned name that you rarely hear. There was a suffragette called Cicely Hamilton.

Why do people care that it's a herb? Olive, Poppy, Rosemary, Clover, Daisy, Rose, Hazel and Lily etc are all fine but Cicely is just going too far for some reason???
I think both are ok, no real preference for either.

Sissy puts me off Cicely.
Cesspit puts me off Cecily.

Sweet Cicely is a herbaceous perennial plant in the celery fam.

Cecily - I wanted this for DD2 but my husband vetoed it!

@stoneandthread , it's a pretty plant and I think it's a nice association.
I'm not keen on rosemary as a herb, which puts me off the name. I can't stand the smell of lilies, and ivy is a thuggish weed.
