Which one and why?

OP posts:

Louise by a mile. Eloise is a bit of a mouthful and will get shortened to Ellie.

WaltzingWaters · 05/08/2023 12:20

Eloise. Much prettier.

darkmodeearlobe · 05/08/2023 12:24

Both nice, slight preference for Louise.

Tbh I'm a bit bored of vowel heavy names. All of these are currently in the Top 100: Ella, Luna, Lucy, Lily, Layla, Elsie, Luna, Lottie, Lyla, Eleanor, Ellie, Lara, Leah, Ariella, Arabella. And lots more like Millie, Bella, Talia, Isla, Hallie Amelia etc. It seems as though every other girl name had L's in it, or begins with an L or E.

darkmodeearlobe · 05/08/2023 12:25

The Eloise I know isn't an Elle, Ellie or Ella BTW just ab Eloise. My neighbour has just had an Elodie. Maybe all a bit faddy?

faban · 05/08/2023 12:27

Eloise for sure

RuthW · 05/08/2023 12:29

Both lovely. I hate Ellie though. I'd go with Eloise (shortened to Nellie) or Louisa.

yikesanotherbooboo · 05/08/2023 12:29

Louise or Louisa for me.

darkmodeearlobe · 05/08/2023 12:29

So Louise gets my vote. But saw your comment on the Elliana thread and so why not consider names that aren't so vowel heavy? No harm done.

Tablenearthetoiletsmum · 05/08/2023 12:29

Eloise! Because of The Damned!

RhosynBach · 05/08/2023 12:31

I don’t love Louise. But I like Eloise and love Louisa

Lo89 · 05/08/2023 12:31

Eloise 👍🏽

Findyourneutralspace · 05/08/2023 12:32

Louise is so elegant. I also like Louisa, not as keen on Eloise.

peaceofmind1 · 05/08/2023 12:33

I like Louisa

Eloise is difficult to spell imo.
Louise sounds abit flat

professionalprofiterroletester · 05/08/2023 12:34

Thanks all. I can't stand Nelly/ie have a real aversion to it but can't explain why. Louise may be my favourite of the two my only teeny tiny reservation is that its a bit 90s middle name?

caramac04 · 05/08/2023 12:37

Eloise is lovely and can be shortened to Louise or Lou.

blankittyblank · 05/08/2023 12:53

I'm an eloise. I've always loved my name (although it was very unusual when I was young) I really love how it looks written down too

I would though HATE to be called Louise or Louisa! I was very proud of not being a louise when I was young (louise bring pretty common back then) generally my name isn't shortened, but if it is it's Elo or El.

Dombasle · 05/08/2023 12:56

Eloise.

Crazy8 · 05/08/2023 12:59

I’m an Eloise and love my name. I think Louisa is lovely compared to Louise.

liondreams · 05/08/2023 13:03

Louise is super common among certain ages. Just a bit plain I think. Eloise much prettier.

Theoldwoman · 05/08/2023 13:32

Louise, but like Louisa more.

Elegant and timeless.

Beamur · 05/08/2023 13:38

Similar names with really different vibes.
I prefer Louise/Louisa as it sounds nicer, it's a more elegant name although would agree with 80's middle name feel.
Eloise is clunky to say but a fresher, edgier name. I don't like the extra Eh- sound at the beginning.

SwedishEdith · 05/08/2023 14:00

I don't like the unnecessary extra syllable for Eloise. Always a bit frilly sounding compared to Louise.

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 05/08/2023 14:11

Louise is so 90s and dull. Louisa is very pretty. Eloise is nice too.

PickledScrump · 05/08/2023 14:28

Elouise is lovely, the one I know has never been shortened. Louise is dated and was everyone’s middle name in the 90s

FatTonysSlimWife · 05/08/2023 15:23

Louise but I prefer Louisa.
Eloise is ok but frilly, Elouise is a no for me.
