My daughter's name is Eloise, whereas my husband's previous partner went by Ellie. There has never been an instance where Eloise was referred to as Ellie, Nellie or Weezy or any of that mess! Elle-belle when she was little but she's an Eloise!! I actually preferred Louisa at the time but frustratingly DH's niece was a Louisa so we couldn't use it.

Louise is a bit 90s
Eloise is very pretty, the two I know are Elle and Lo for short.
I prefer Louisa/Luisa.

Luisa

more modern

I have an Eloise. She's never been known as Ellie or Louise. They are completely different names and not actually shorter to say. She has though been called weez by younger relations but that has stopped as they get older.

They are completely different names and not actually shorter to say.
Eloise is 3 syllables, Louise is 2 syllables, Ellie is 2 syllable. Eloise is longer to say and the o-i bit is a bit harder to say than an ee sound.

"Eloise would be one of a zillion Ellies"

I've taught several Eloises over the years. About 5, and I know another 3 socially. Not one of them has ever been called Ellie.

I’m a Louise and I’m almost 30, I’ve only ever known one other Louise and I like the name. For girls of my generation so many had Louise as a middle name, think it’s due a comeback.
