What do you think of the name Eliana?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sofiatheworst · 04/08/2023 21:28

Love 😍 it’s on my list. Only slight issue I can see is that it may sound less great in some accents.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 04/08/2023 21:30

I've heard the name Elaina but not Eliana. It's different if that's what you are going for. It sounds a bit Spanish/Italian.

CremeEggThief · 04/08/2023 21:31

Sounds lovely 😍 .

Brexile · 04/08/2023 21:32

Very pretty.

Dombasle · 04/08/2023 21:33

I prefer Elena.

PickledScrump · 04/08/2023 21:35

I like it. I prefer Illiana but mainly because Eliana will likely become another Ellie.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/08/2023 21:38

Is it pronounced Ellie-Anna?

I prefer one or the other, not both together

Eyeapple · 04/08/2023 21:41

Eli - Ana or Ellie Ana??

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/08/2023 21:42

I know one, she’s Cypriot. She’s fabulous!

ParisP · 04/08/2023 21:47

Elaina is nice, not keen on Eliana

Saolas · 04/08/2023 21:59

Would pronounce it el-ee-ah-nuh Smile

Love it

elp30 · 04/08/2023 22:14

I love it but I'm biased because my 22-year-old daughter is called that but it's spelt differently.

The UK needs more girls with that name 😉

elp30 · 04/08/2023 22:15

I thought I'd mention that everyone calls my daughter, Illy, not Ellie.

toastofthetown · 04/08/2023 22:20

It’s just so bland to me. It’s name which rolls every current name trend into one name. Eliana in a sea of Arya, Lily, and Ella’s etc just blends into one vowelly mush. There are also seven El- names in the top hundred which combined with decades of Ellie/Ellas adds to the dull ubiquity of the name.

user1477391263 · 04/08/2023 23:11

Sounds like the parent wanted "Ellie" but decided to try and be a bit original. Will probably end up being "Ellie" most of the time anyway.

Housenoob · 04/08/2023 23:16

I love it but the only thing that would put me off using it is that the nickname will very likely be Ellie which is now bland and overused.

DramaAlpaca · 04/08/2023 23:20

I think it's pretty, but frilly.

I'm afraid I agree... It's a nice name, but with all the Ella/Ellie/Elsie/Eloise/Layla/Lyla/Lela names at the moment it would seem kind of bland-but-at-once -trie-hard to me.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/08/2023 00:28

I've got a friend whose family is from Cyprus whose dd is an Eliana, but she pronounces it more like il-ee-ah-nah - doesn't sound at all like the Ellie/Ellie etc names.

@Saolas we have a two year old Eliana.
I love the name and the meaning 'My God has answered' (Eliyanah) in Hebrew (I'm sure you know this already 😊
She is mostly called Eliana but some kids do say Ellie the odd time but she is known as Eliana. Although I did want to call her Eli but that mostly works for Elijah. I do shorten her name playfully to Liana, Lia (only privately as my friend has a Leah that is the same age).
I was going to give my baby an 'Eli' name so the 'Ellie' nickname does not bother me as almost everyone calls her Eliana.

TheaBrandt · 05/08/2023 02:20

Awful sorry.

MaxwellCat · 05/08/2023 02:25

Not keen

applepie04 · 05/08/2023 02:40

Really popular now. I know 3 Eliana's! (Babies)
