Really like both

Florence- beautiful name, no keen on the nn Flo

Francesca- sounds very poetic to my ears. Dated?

I prefer Francesca. I like fran, frankie and cesca as shortenings and I like the full version.

Florence sounds nice enough but i'm not flo or a floss fan which i hear as shortenings.

This makes me so happy because it's both of my grandmother's names.

I think Francesca is more beautiful, but I may be biased because my grandma Francesca was such a spectacular human being!

I know lots of girls under 10 called Florence yet none called Francesca.

The adult women I know/knew who are called Francesca have a variety of nicknames.

It’s much more sophisticated than Florence, I’d far rather be called it as a adult. Definitely not dated - it’s becoming quite popular now along with Frances, but not overused.

It’s not too long to use as is, but has a great variety of nns, I like the old fashioned Franca - but also Chesca, Chessie, Frankie and Francie

They're both really, really beautiful and I have a Francesca who is nearly 6 so obviously biased but still. Florence is really pretty too though and I also dislike the nickname Flo but I not lots of Florence's and none of them go by it because it isn't an obvious sounding nickname. So that wouldn't be a worry.

I find Francesca a beautiful and sophisticated name. Florence not so much.

My first association is the character in 'The Magic Roundabout' (showing my age there!), then Florence Nightingale. Then Florence and the Machine I suppose. It has a Victorian vibe. Actually not keen on names ending in the 'ence' sound in general, eg Constance, Hortense, Prudence. It's a bit stodgy.

Francesca with the nn Franca is my imaginary daughters name

I have 3 boys, the last being the boy version of Francesca as I knew I was done having children and would never get to use the name Francesca

Is Florence a dog in an old kids tv show? I don’t really like it, not a strong name and the nn Fli isn’t great.
