Good morning all,

So baby no3 is on his way - Due early August. Just wanted to get your opinions on our names that we cannot decide on:

Jesse-Beau - His nickname will be JB
Benjamin-Beau - His nickname will be Benji-Beau

We have 2 darling girlies Angel-Iris and Clover-Skye and coming up with a lads name has been pretty hard as we both thought we'd be having another girl and decided straight away on a name before even finding out the gender.

All your opinions are welcome. TIA

I'm dying to know what your 3rd girl name was going to be.....

Me too!

justme2022 · 18/07/2023 16:31

You can say his nickname will be JB all you want but take from someone with the initials JB. He's probably going to spend most of his secondary school life being called BJ. And it sucks (pun intended)

Poor kids. I've been mocked half my life for having a hyphenated name and it's actually a fairly normal one compared to the messes you have come up with. I'm cringing.

EmmaOvary · 18/07/2023 16:53

This has got to be a wind-up.

ladygindiva · 18/07/2023 16:54

Jesse-Beau is gorgeous
Congratulations

Then you really should know better than to mock others.

muddlingthrou · 18/07/2023 17:12

Clover-Skye 😮😮😮😮

I'm not mocking the kids, I'm just astounded at the names they've been given. I wouldn't walk up to the kids in the street and mock them ffs.

Littlegoth · 18/07/2023 17:44

You can’t have 2 first names, only one name can be the first name. It would be a first name and a second name.

I’m not a fan of hyphenating forenames, agree with pp it’s chavvy.

emmaleigh23 · 18/07/2023 18:04

Hi

I think as he reaches double digits he will have his own nickname, hopefully some friends that refer to him as their own nickname.

Sophie-Rose.

Ha, ha, nice one op..

emmaleigh23 · 18/07/2023 18:41

TBH... Most of the feedback has been promising when it comes to the girls names and as they're not really common and it's unlikely that there's going to be another 2-3 in their classes. When it comes to hyphened names it's a family thing, dating back over 90 years so it was important to me to keep that going. But...I don't think the names are the worst in the world, there are some cringy names out there. Beau is

(There is a backstory behind the names

Angel was born on Christmas day
Iris is my Nan in laws name)

Clover (My hubby is Irish and of course four clovers - faith, hope, love and luck)
Skye (Angel chose this name - when she found out she was having a sister).

Benjamin-Beau is a recent name that my fella thought up
Beau we were in France when we found out gender, and Beau is a French name and have to admit love the meaning behind.

Before Benjamin-Beau I had 10 drafted on my notepad in my phone, I'll share the top 5 with you:

Callum-James (I had my heart set on - the hubs wasn't too impressed)
Dominic-James (2nd favourite)
Alfie-James (Alfred is my grandad in-law. But very popular)
Milo-James ( Love the meaning behind Milo)
Oscar-James (Hubs said it's too popular)

As you've noticed I was set on James, as my hubby's name is Jamie. And yes, Benjamin wasn't in the top 5, but it had fluttered around my head a few times.

As said in the intro message, all opinions are truly appreciated. x

Jesse over Benjamin but Ben over Jesse lol

you can't choose wrong though :)

CurlewKate · 18/07/2023 19:16

I really wouldn't want my surgeon to be called Benji-Beau.....

Coffeeandcakemum · 18/07/2023 20:45

Jesse-Beau 😊

Hazelnut9 · 18/07/2023 21:06

I prefer Jesse-Beau, but I do have to agree that it’s hard to imagine an adult with that name. I quite like Milo-James from your other list?

I grant you, double barrelled names are not for everyone but many people have them...etc: Mary-Ann, Betty-Sue, Ava-Mae, Billy-Jay, John-Paul. Its not illegal yet so it 'Can' be done!.

Precisely why I'm hoping this is a joke thread tbh.

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/07/2023 14:39

It must be a joke. She said her husband is Irish and for that reason they called the child Clover. That can't be real.
