Unusual but classy baby names?

Please throw any suggestions at me - both male and female as we don't know the sex yet.

I would love something very classy / traditional but something you don't hear every day! I love 'Grace' for a girl but I know it's quite common.

I also like 'Ethan' for a boy but a close relative has a son called that so that's out too. Other than that my mind is stumped...

Not to my taste but some more unusual names I have heard of late which you may like-
Everley
Ottolie
Sage
Wren
Can't think of any boys names

MonkeyDoodles · 18/07/2023 22:16

Sadie as well is a classic but beautiful name.

Torin.
My son, now 17, is the only Torin I know. So happy with his name. Easy to say and spell. Classy, timeless, but also unusual. He likes it too. Highly recommend!

My baby is called Cormac and this fits the bill I think? Unusual but very known

Internationalpony · 19/07/2023 15:01

It’s very subjective as Ethan sounds American to me rather than a traditional name!

Some examples of classic, traditional names for boys:
-Benedict
-Sebastian
-Henry
-Hugh
-Rupert
-Tobias
-George
-Ivo
-Giles
-Guy
-Maximus or Maximilian

For girls:
-Octavia
-Verity
-Margot
-Beatrice
-Henrietta
-Cressida
-Tabitha
-Penelope
-Felicity
-Ophelia
-Jemima

If you like Grace go for it. I do think there is a lot of unnecessary worry and exaggeration about names being "too popular". There are loads of babies born every year-you'd have to be pretty unlucky to have another of even the most popular name in the class!

CurlewKate · 19/07/2023 15:10

Have you considered Pearl?

Daphnis156 · 21/07/2023 23:31

For a girl: Putta
For a boy Pericles

RitzyMcFitzy · 21/07/2023 23:36

doesn't putta mean 'whore'?

that would be unusual for sure.
