Or something more unique?
I'm looking for a nice boys name, my other 2 dc have fairly normal names not too out there.
Also need a middle name too,
Thanks

I prefer Daniel. Great name for all ages.

TeenDivided · 13/07/2023 07:55

Daniel Jacob?

newnamechangeforthisone · 13/07/2023 07:57

Nana. Those are my twins names. I clearly like both.

iwantawisteriathisyear · 13/07/2023 08:00

Daniel is a much nicer name.

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 08:00

Both are nice but I prefer Daniel. Which goes best with the surname?

bloodyeffinnora · 13/07/2023 08:01

Daniel

LaraPeople · 13/07/2023 08:02

My vote is definitely Jacob.

Lavenderflower · 13/07/2023 08:07

I think they are both nice but I think Daniel sounds quite generational. It's a name I associate with boys born in the 80's and 90's.

Jacob

If was in the top 10 when my son was born in 2003, and my friend, who had her son in 2015 called her son Daniel. I’m sure it was still top 20 then.

OopsieeDaisy · 13/07/2023 09:00

Jacob is lovely. Daniel is a nice name too but not really my cup of tea. Definitely don’t think you need to try and find something more unique, the classic names are the best!

TheIsleOfTheLost · 13/07/2023 09:36

Jacob.
I like that Daniel can be Danny, just don't really like Dan.

LobsterCrab · 13/07/2023 09:44

I prefer Jacob.

Other names with a similar vibe IMO are Oscar, Isaac, Arthur, Benjamin.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 13/07/2023 12:51

I think of them both as very popular but that's because I teach teenagers. I've had two y11 classes this year, one with four Daniels (all known as Dan) and one with four Jacobs and a Jake. Lovely names both and if you don't mind popularity you can't really go wrong. Daniel is on a steep trajectory down so you will encounter fewer at baby groups and in your child's class, etc.

Coronationstation · 13/07/2023 12:56

Daniel
I don't not like Jacob but I prefer Daniel and I don't like the way some people pronounce Jacob as JacUb

Eh? Everyone I know pronounces it Jaycub,

Jay cob sounds very weird. Is there another way?

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 14:37

@SoShallINever , maybe she knows people who say it as Jackub, that's how I interpreted 'JacUb'

Coronationstation · 13/07/2023 14:40

no, with a real emphasis on the U which just sounds ugly. It's probably a regional thing though.

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 14:47

What - like Jake-UB? What region?

Coronationstation · 13/07/2023 15:07

yes, exactly like that! Round Manchester (the posher parts too!)

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 15:21

Grin I guessed right!

continentallentil · 13/07/2023 17:04

Prefer Daniel - quite underused right now

SallyWD · 13/07/2023 17:30

I like them both. Both really good names. I love Jacob and like Daniel. Daniel's great but just a tiny bit dull.

verabarbleen · 13/07/2023 19:05

Jacob

LotsOfThingsToThinkAbout · 13/07/2023 19:23

Both great names
