What’s the verdict on Verity? Potential nicknames? Do you know any under 5? Would also appreciate suggestions of other names. (Girl and boy)
Last baby. Siblings are Imogen, Louisa and Nathaniel (Immy, Lou and Nate )

Pretty

DustyLee123 · 02/07/2023 20:44

Love it ! Wanted to use it but got a boy !

AndAllOurYesterdays · 02/07/2023 20:45

Love it. The little Verity I know is nicknamed 'Vee'

Violetlondon · 02/07/2023 20:50

I forgot to add that the middle name will be Eliza (a family name)
Verity Eliza - single syllable surname beginning with J.

Vee is quite sweet actually!

Love it.

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 02/07/2023 20:56

It's underused and wonderful.

Laurdo · 02/07/2023 20:57

Verity is nice and uncommon. If you like the v sound what about Vari, Ivy, Ivan or Evan?

KirstenBlest · 02/07/2023 20:57

VEJ isn't great.

Amdone123 · 02/07/2023 21:00

I love it, too. I couldn't think of anything short for it, but yes, Vee is lovely.
Love Imogen and Louisa, too.
Other girls names - Felicity, Eleanor, Liberty.
Boys - Sebastian, Tristan, Dominic, Gabriel.
I very nearly had Nathaniel (35 years ago ! ).

I'm also loving Peter, at the moment.

My friends just had a baby called Verity, I love it

Etty could work as a NN?

GlamGiraffe · 02/07/2023 21:08

Outing, but it's my sister's name. None of us tend to have our names shortened, my dad occasionally calls her Vee.
In the past it has been perplexing as a name to people, but now no one bats an eyelid as names are more diverse. Its wildly different from all the other family names though which is very strange, not sure what my parents were up to when they chose it compared to all the others.

ladygindiva · 02/07/2023 21:09

Nice. I know one aged 7 or 8 and another in her forties. Unusual without being weird. I think it's lovely.

AlltheFs · 02/07/2023 21:11

Verity was second on my list, we went with Felicity but I love Verity too.

toomanyleggings · 02/07/2023 21:12

I have a little Verity. We don’t really use nicknames for her. I’ve tried out a few but haven’t really stuck. I imagine she’ll get Vee though. Tend to get a lot of positive comments about it apart from when she born a colleague kept calling her Ferrity which was quite annoying.

I know a Verity who goes by Etty!

It’s a very pretty name

CC4712 · 02/07/2023 21:14

I know one in her 40's who is an absolute cow! Another is 9 is lovely and restored my faith in the lovely name 😁

Any reason you NEED to have a nick name for her??? Why can't you just say Verity?

It’s more me thinking of shortenings she may use herself, check I like them😃 as well as nicknames we may use. I’ve never shortened Imogen, but she is known to everyone else as Immy (her choice)

I'm not a massive fan of virtue names because it's forcing something onto a child as well as your taste. But Verity is one of the nicer ones. Unless she's a massive fibber it should be OK!

That’s crazy! I was actually put off of using the name Thea, when I mentioned it to a friend and she pronounced it with an F. 🙄

I love Felicity. Will add this to my list!

I like the name Verity. I only know of one and she is mid 30s.

DD was also a toss up between Verity and Felicity. We went for Felicity in the end because it went better with the middle name we chose. Had a second DD come along I would definitely have used Verity. Beautiful name. I'm one of those weird people (by MN standards) that likes matching sibset names.

AuntyPonsonby · 02/07/2023 21:55

It's a bit too close to Ferrety for my liking.

FoodFann · 02/07/2023 22:00

LOVE IT
