Boring? I just really like it.

Would love to call him something like Xavier but I'm really a basic bitch.

We picked Ben for my daughter, had she been a boy. We had to quickly think of a new boys name when Kathy on Eastenders had her baby early and him Ben!

They are both 27 now!

Benard means brave like a bear ,ben which is the nickname is lovely .It has both something smart for the birth certificate and something simple cute

NorthWestThree · 01/07/2023 10:44

I love the name Ben. Maybe you could have Benjamin which gives a few more options for nicknames, Benny, Benjy?

Ben is a great name though!

DuchessOfSausage · 01/07/2023 12:21

basic bitch
What, you're an unneutered female dog? Ben would be a fine name for a male puppy.

Ben's fine. I'd put Benjamin on the BC.

Benard is a bit too unusual an would get mixed up with Bernard. I quite like Bernard and Bernadette.
Ben could be short for Bennett or Benedict, but I prefer Benjamin. Not keen on Benny or Benji

PurpleChrayne · 01/07/2023 12:30

Ben is lovely.

"Basic b" names are things like Saint, Theo, Arlo, Archie.

MuMmaOf3littles · 01/07/2023 12:41

My 3rd dc is called Benjamin (whilst we still have a choice what to call him). Expecting him to change it to Ben as be grows up, but none the less it's still a lovely name.

RoseMartha · 01/07/2023 12:56

I think its a good name

Gateappreciation · 01/07/2023 12:59

Ben is fine. Also agree you could use Benedict or Benjamin as his full name.

nattiee · 01/07/2023 13:53

I love the name Ben. I could never use it as my little brother is Ben, just registered as Ben as my parents weren't over keen on Benjamin

DuchessOfSausage · 01/07/2023 14:47

If you have no intention of calling him Benjamin, just Ben is fine.
I know people who are just Alex, Kate, Mandy, Sue, Tom, Vicky etc BUT some people will assume it is short for something.

PurBal · 01/07/2023 14:48

Could always go Benedict and Ben for short if you want something quirky.

Kaamos · 01/07/2023 14:49

It's a lovely name. I like Benedict as a fuller version and Ben by itself is great too.

Einevinefine · 01/07/2023 14:50

Love the name Ben.

Roselilly36 · 01/07/2023 14:51

I love the name Ben, just Ben is perfect.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 01/07/2023 14:54

I really like it and I've only met one DC with that name since DS was born some 18 odd years ago.

It's lovely and unless they're over 50, you aren't going to meet many others Wink

DuchessOfSausage · 01/07/2023 14:55

A friend has a Benedict and I much prefer Benjamin I hear 'dick'

Mumof1andacat · 01/07/2023 15:09

I prefer Benjamin so he could choose to shorten it if he wants.

Kim82 · 01/07/2023 15:11

I have a Ben. I didn’t like any of the longer versions so he has Ben on his birth certificate. Still love the name now and he turns 22 this month.

Giltedged · 01/07/2023 15:13

I have a Benjamin. I really like it, and I like the fact it is quite timeless. Benjamin could be five months or fifty five.

lemonyellows · 01/07/2023 15:41

Ben on its own is great. Strong and unfussy

regustering · 01/07/2023 15:47

My last name is three letters so he will have a very short name haha

My 16yr old is a Benjamin, Ben for short..some of his friends call him Benji.(but this always sounds like a dogs name to me)

RoyKentFanclub · 01/07/2023 16:26

I have one and there are three of them in his year group so it’s quite common.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 01/07/2023 16:29

Ben is one of my favourite names.

Liv999 · 01/07/2023 22:10

Love Ben, one of my favourites
