I know that they're marmite names but which do you prefer for a boy?

For a male puppy, Chase.

For a male child, neither.

GodessOfThunder · 27/06/2023 13:51

Neither

Soozikinzii · 27/06/2023 13:53

Shay . That's nice . Not Chase though .

Thereoughttobeclowns · 27/06/2023 13:54

Neither. Both are atrocious.

MerryChristmasToYou · 27/06/2023 13:54

Not keen on either but if I had to choose, Shay

AliceMcK · 27/06/2023 13:56

Met a little boy called chase recently, first child, his parents had no idea about the paw patrol reference when naming him, now all they hear is Chase is on the case.

Also met a girl called Shay, it really suited her. I’m assuming it’s a unisex name. I think I’d like it on a boy too.

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/06/2023 13:58

Neither.

golddustwomen · 27/06/2023 14:00

Love Shay.

LadyDanburysHat · 27/06/2023 14:02

Shay always sounds unfinished to me. Chase is good, but the Paw Patrol thing would probably put me off.

Sunnydaysaredefhere · 27/06/2023 14:03

My Shay is a teenager. We all still love it!

Dinoswearunderpants · 27/06/2023 14:05

Unless you're American, neither.

"Chase is on the case" springs to mind. And "Shay whatttttt".

J0S · 27/06/2023 14:07

Neither

MadeForThis · 27/06/2023 14:08

Shea

Corgilicious · 27/06/2023 14:08

Neither, sorry. There are so many interesting names out there...

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 27/06/2023 14:09

Seamus or Charles. I like Shay, but I really don’t like the spelling, and I’d go with Seamus as a full name.

I know a few people called Chase - ranging in age from toddler to mid 40s - but they are all Charles as a full name.

orangeflags · 27/06/2023 14:09

Chay as in the famous sailor is ok

LizzieBet14 · 27/06/2023 14:10

No to both from me

vicaragechristmas · 27/06/2023 14:19

Shay, because like others I think of Chase from Paw Patrol! And it seems less like a name than Shay. Shay sounds like a shortening of something though, is there anything you could use as a longer version so DS can use the longer one if he prefers?

TheMurderousGoose · 27/06/2023 18:23

Shay is pretty common in Ireland. Usually short for Séamus. They're generally good dependable blokes.

Chase sounds like a character in an American soap. He'd have a bouffant and be getting up to all sorts of sexy shenanigans with Peyton and Dayton.

salamithumbs · 27/06/2023 20:14

I really like Shay! I know a few Shays, think they're short for Seamus but I think it's nice as a full name. Not fond of Chase, think it sounds kind of trendy 2000s American or something! Like the cool guy the girls would fancy in a Hilary Duff film
