If you come from a culture where you spend time in bible study @wutheringkites , then it's more meaningful to use an 'out there' Old Testament name. I think finding a name that is rare often trumps every other consideration now, such as having personal meaning, cultural fit, family significance. I'm not saying we should go back to all calling our children Anne or John, but the pendulum has swung very far in the 'out there' direction.
