Mariela or Marcia?

also love
Delilah
Valentina
Penelope

Love Margot too but cannot for the life of me get the close spelling of Maggot out of my head no matter how hard I try!

if you had a little girl tomorrow what would you call her?

What about using Penelope, with Nelly for a nickname?

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 10:31

But then there’s potential for penny Nelly lol I’m soo fussy I can pick flaws in everything! I might not even need a girls name I’m 3 weeks off and don’t know the gender then with Valentina I love butttt I think she would just end up being called Val which I’m not crazy about tbh. Hmmmmm

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 10:32

Sorry misread I think Penny would be a more obvious nn

Inspired from your list, my favourites ..

Mariella
Marcelle
Lila
Clementine
Ellinor
Prudence

lucylousweetie · 27/06/2023 10:36

None of those

but if I needed to choose from that selection…. I like Delilah, but very much linked to the song

lucylousweetie · 27/06/2023 10:36

Nelly - one of the most appalling names I have ever heard

What an awful thing to say

Reported

CallieQ · 27/06/2023 10:40

Hate Nelly
And Marcia

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 10:43

It’s ok if you hate the names on the list everyone has different tastes if we didn’t no one would have names any different now would they?!

But please don’t put your spiteful comments without any other suggestions.

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 10:44

See I love Mariela but was unsure with one L or two Ls that’s my front runner tbh.

OP posts:
Crabbity · 27/06/2023 10:47

Mariella (or Mariela for that matter, but feel like the former is a more intuitive spelling) is the nicest by far.

WetBandits · 27/06/2023 10:49

I like Mariella/Mariela!

Also love Margot, I’ve known two women called Margaux also (but both were French!) if you like that spelling?

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 11:01

Ooo yeah I quite like that spelling the reason I wanted just the one “l” in Mariela is because I’m really not mad about the name Ella so I was pretty much trying to visually crop it out from being so loud in the name of that makes sense

OP posts:
MerryChristmasToYou · 27/06/2023 11:03

Mariela - Mariella seems a better spelling. It's long! Lots of Ellas around.
Marcia - Marce-ee-ah or Marsha?

also love
Delilah - why, why, why? Lots of Lila, Lyla etc
Valentina - ok
Penelope - ok, will be Penny
Nelly - just Nell is nice

Margot - Maggor. the Margaux spelling is horrible.

Just Nell is lovely.

MerryChristmasToYou · 27/06/2023 11:05

Mariela looks like it might be said as Mareela.
How about Mariette or Margaretta, nn Etta or Ettie

Deadringer · 27/06/2023 11:06

Why not just drop the T and go for Margo? Nothing like maggot then

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/06/2023 11:21

I thought you were planning on calling your baby "Stuck" for a minute then.😂.
If I had a baby girl tomorrow I'd call her Ezmay. From your list I like Marcia, Valentina and Nell rather than Nell

merrymelodies · 27/06/2023 11:28

Allegra, Katherine, Anthea, Ines are the first that spring to mind.

Vivi0 · 27/06/2023 11:36

I considered Valentina for baby number 2, but he was a boy.

I really do like Margot and don’t associate the spelling with maggot at all.

If I had a baby girl tomorrow, I would name her Fenna.

Mumofgirls2017 · 27/06/2023 11:44

I’d go for Delilah, Valentina, or Penelope. Would also suggest

seraphina
aurora
cassandra
athena
calliope
tallulah
thalia
rosanna
daphne

WetBandits · 27/06/2023 11:48

Ooh how about Marguerite!

MirandaBlu · 27/06/2023 11:51

"Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!" - Jan Brady

I really like Mariela; Mariella's fine too. Also Marielle and Mirabel(le). What about Marcela/Marcella? Mariana? Marina? Mercy?

I do think that Valentina is likley to be shortened, but not inevitably to Val - could also be Leni, Tina, Valya, etc. Of course, she may end up liking/wanting to be called Val later on, so maybe avoid if you hate it.

My "baby girl tomorrow" choice of the day is Ariadne.

jackles · 27/06/2023 11:56

How about Mignonette? It means "dainty".
