Nicknames for Evelyn

Hi everyone,

We're deciding on a name for our soon to be born baby girl. Evelyn is a name on our shortlist.
We have 2 boys who both have traditional/ old fashioned names with shortened versions that are more modern so I quite like the fact that Evelyn would fit in with this.

Just wondering if you have or know an Evelyn, what are they known as? Evelyn most of the time? Or do they have a nickname/ shortened version?

I have a friend called Evelyn. She loathes it and everyone calls her Eve.

My Evelyn gets called Evie or Eve mostly.

I know a child Evelyn who goes by Evie and a 50+ Evelyn who goes by Lyn, I didn't even know her full name until fairly recently

I know a couple. One gets Ev (not eve) and the other gets Evie x

My 11 year old gets called Evie at school, nugget by her mates ( I don’t know why- she doesn’t mind, they all have odd names for each other!) and pinky by me and her dad.

My daughter has a friend who is an Evelyn. She goes by V these days. It was "Evey" in primary school and the first couple of years of high school and that evolved into V.

Got to be Eve, Evie or Lyn really? What were you hoping for?

Ev - but we pronounce it Ev - lin and not eev-lin.
Not sure if that’s the norm or not as don’t know any other young Evelyns but it’s an old family name and the other members of the family were also pronounced Ev-lin.

She will inevitably end up as either Evie or Eva. Just be aware that she will also be one of many amongst a sea of other small girls also called Evie, Eva, Ellie, Ava, Esme etc.

I prefer Ev or Evie I think but it's more just so I can imagine it and see if it feels right. We're not going to decide until she's here so just some nicknames to test out really.
I'd not be keen on Lyn I don't think! We kind of get a day in what they're called until they're a certain age but then they and/or their friends will decide anyway won't they? X

I know of one who goes by Elle and one who goes by Evy (pronounced ev-ee)

She will be one of a billion Evies, so I’d find something else if you can

Yet another Evie, and she'll be 'Evveh-lin'

Depends if you’re pronouncing it ev-lyn, ev-eh-Lyn or Eve-lyn.

eve-lyn will likely get Evie but the other two will more likely be ev or evvie/Effie

(Female) Evelyn I knew was always Evvy, rhymes with heavy.

I am an Evelyn ) after my Nanna) I hate it - not phonetically correct and no one ever pronounces it properly - try Aoife instead 👍🏿☘️

The 2 (adult) Evelyns I know are both "Ev"

I know an Evelyn goes by Lennie

I know four Evelyns, 2 called Evie who are primary school age
1 in her 30s who is Vee
And a friend of my grandads who would be in her 90s now and went by Velvet

I know one who goes by Effie
