Nicholas would probably/maybe be Nico

Nicholas definitely, Reuben is an awful name.

NotTodayJose · 22/06/2023 13:51

Reuben!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 22/06/2023 13:51

I love Reuben!

Theoldwoman · 22/06/2023 13:53

Both in my top ten, so I’m no help.

Would depend on surname, middle name, siblings?

CatLoaf · 22/06/2023 14:01

Surname is 2 syllables and vaguely French sounding. I can't put his older sister's name as annoyingly didn't do a name change before posting 😬

Nicholas.
You could spell it Nicolas

CatLoaf · 22/06/2023 14:10

I tried asking about the Nicolas spelling on another thread, and the consensus seemed to be that everyone would them call him Nicola 🙈 I can't win

With Reuben I would think you're a very religious family (Pentecostal/Evangelical) or that it is a family name, not one you chose because you liked it.

Simonlebonbon · 22/06/2023 14:14

I prefer nico to both, but I've met a few twatty Nicholas/nicks, objectively I do like the name though.
But know very lovely Nicos! (Smart, funny, handsome!)
And reuben is lovely. I know 2 very lovely little boys named Roo, short for reuben.

Names don't always appeal to everyone so please choose the one you love!

It's a Jewish name!

Nico is much cooler sounding imo. Sounds quite European. Plus classic Nicholas gives him more options when he's older - he can always be "Cole" instead for example if he dislikes Nico/Nicholas.

FrostieBoabby · 22/06/2023 17:39

I was at school with a Nicholas and the school bullies used to call him knickerless. Made his life a misery 🫤

magnolia1997 · 22/06/2023 17:41

I know a Nick (Nicholas) in his late teens. He's very happy with his name.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 22/06/2023 17:43

Reuben for sure .

SirChenjins · 22/06/2023 17:45

Nicholas (or Nick. Nico sounds like some dodgy bloke down the market with diamond earrings and a lifestyle that doesn’t seem to match his income). Reuben sounds v wet imo.

LaLaLouella · 22/06/2023 17:47

I don't really like either tbh (sorry!)

Nicholas sounds too much like knicker-less (which is a bizarre thing to call a child) and Nick has connotations of either stealing or cutting yourself which is odd....

Reuben is a sandwich at a NY diner....

CreationNat1on · 22/06/2023 17:49

I love both, but prefer nico

shoopshoopdedoo · 22/06/2023 19:31

Nicholas

CatLoaf · 24/06/2023 09:52

🤔

Nicholas. Can be Nick or Nico.
Reuben is a bit too trendy with R names very popular, and people seem to struggle with the spelling.

TomatoSandwiches · 24/06/2023 11:59

Nicholas, the most honorable man I know is called Nicola btw.

Yes, that's why I said a family name.

A lot of pentecostals & evangelicals also use old Testament names.

bobby81 · 24/06/2023 12:15

Reuben gets my vote

IggyAce · 24/06/2023 12:21

I like both but I’d go with Nicholas, I work in a school and there are loads of Reubens.

CurlewKate · 24/06/2023 12:25

Nicholas because it has better shortenings.
