Opinions on this name please!

It's of Slavic origin meaning 'princess' and is pronounced zaa-ree-uh.

Thanks!

Love it!

RandomMess · 20/06/2023 18:39

It's lovely but we have enough issues with people understanding Zara 🙄

FayCarew · 20/06/2023 18:41

It's nice but I would have thought it was Zaar-ya. It looks too much like Zara.

FayCarew · 20/06/2023 18:43

I meant I thought it was said like the city and not like Maria

jackstini · 20/06/2023 18:47

I like it
Is the emphasis on the first or second syllable?

Sugaspunsista · 20/06/2023 18:53

This is my eldest daughter's name.
Pronounced like Aria but with a Z 😁
I love it and so do most other people

It's not pronounced like Maria, it's pronounced with emphasis on the first syllable if you know what I mean!

Ah, ok. I thought you meant to rhyme with Sophia, Mia Leah etc.

mamaduckbone · 20/06/2023 20:25

My ds went to school with a Zaria and it was never mispronounced or mixed up with Zara. Lovely name!

BloodyCatArgh · 20/06/2023 21:52

I know a Zaria - I think in her case it's a Bangladeshi origin name. I really like it!

continentallentil · 20/06/2023 23:16

People will mistake it for Zara constantly and I don’t it’s interesting enough for the hassle

Enko · 20/06/2023 23:50

Beautiful name and I dont think it will be mistaken for Zara.

Watchthedoormat · 20/06/2023 23:54

Diarrhea.
So sorry OP but I felt it needed mentioning.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 21/06/2023 00:43

Prefer Zara.

CC4712 · 21/06/2023 00:59

I thought of baby Azaria. Not sure I've heard of Zaria, but I like it.

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 21/06/2023 08:29

Honestly, it's like you wanted to use Zara but wanted to be different but really just made up q name that sounds a bit silly. Not my cup of tea at all.

It's not made up at all. As stated in my OP, it's a Slavic name

Are you Slavic?

awaywiththefairies7 · 21/06/2023 09:54

GBoucher · 21/06/2023 09:48

Are you Slavic?

Nope. But there's nothing wrong with using a name from a place you're not from... my own name originated from a different country

Where are you getting your info? Slavic isn't a specific language and I've never heard of an Eastern European woman with this name. According to Behind the Name it's a modern English name that's used mainly in the United States.

I think the name itself is fine. But I would suggest doing more research if the origin/meaning matters to you greatly.

I'll ask you the same question... where are you getting your info from? According to multiple sources, Zaria is a name of Slavic origin and definitely not English...

Zaria?

It’s ok, nothing special imo.
